Trying the Dcity game

Introduction

Hello, Micro here. After many months of being curious about the clustered big and small circles that I see from the screenshots of other players, I decided to get in to the Dcity game. After trying out the game, I learned so many things that I do not understand before. Just like how I wondered why some cards have larger circles than others. These things pique my interest and makes me want to learn more about the game. So here I am, after buying cards randomly and some from the market, I made my first city in the game.

At first, I followed some guides on YouTube, but it turns out that my liquid Hive is not enough to buy the necessary cards.

My First Mistakes

People make mistakes especially when they are trying something new, and I am not an exception to that. Just after starting the game, I made crucial mistakes which drained my limited hive to invest in this game.

My first mistake is buying random cards for 800 SIM each. I remember buying 12 so that costs me 9600 SIM tokens, which I could have used for buying specific cards on the secondary market. With the random cards entering my city, the stats became undesirable for me. It got worse when I made my second mistake. I sold of the cards at a loss, which I could have hold on to for future usage. My third mistake is my lack of patience. Instead of making bids to get cards at a cheaper price and looking for cheaper payment options, I bought the cards at their current asking price, making me spend more and get less cards than I could buy with my funds. For anyone trying the game, be sure to take note of these things first before buying cards right away so you can make the most out pf your investment.

My Game Insights

Dcity is a numbers game for me. This kind of games emphasizes on stats, which should be improved in order to make a good progress. After exploring the game for hours, I learned that there are a few stats that, based on my budget, I should focus on building first. These are:

  • Population, or the number of people that live in a player`s city. They are also called citizens and they are used to fill in the buildings that will require workers to operate and generate income.
  • Workers, or the required citizens that will work in the buildings. Basically, they are citizens (population) that your city needs to have to receive income from buildings.

When population is greater than the number of workers that your buildings require, the excess population becomes unemployed. When your city gets too much unemployed people, the social support that you have pay in SIM also increases.

When workers are greater than your city`s population, some buildings will not get enough population to hire, and so they become inactive.

Just like these 2 churches in my city:

When buildings become inactive, they cannot generate income, but their other stats still take effect.

- Popularity is another stat that gives population through population bonus. It also increases new citizen chance.

- Tax Refund, which allows you to get back the SIM that you pay from taxes. Currently, the tax in the game, is so high and that income becomes negative. When income becomes negative, your city cannot get new citizen. So to get a net positive income, getting cards with tax returns is the key. Cards like Church and Students give tax refund. There are other cards, be sure to check the info section of the website.

My Strategy

As a new player, one of the goals that I need to reach in the game is to earn SIM tokens that I can use to buy more cards on the market. But with the currently soaring taxes in the game, that is not possible. To atleast have a positive income, I plan to accumulate cards with tax refund until it equals to my income. I also plan to improve my new citizen chance to have better chances at getting new citizens. My city also lacks required population to buildings so I also have buy more cards that will increase my population.

To get those cards, I made bids. If any of my readers have extra cards to sell to me, I would appreaciate it.
