Greetings!

I never thought that some chores being done by adults can also be a nice activity for developing the motor skills of a child and I also never thought that a child is going to be interested in those chores. For example, rice planting and fishing.

Rice Planting

One day, when I am about to go home for lunch after a tedious day of rice transplanting on the half portion of our rice field I saw my son and my wife walking toward me. I noticed that my son is wearing a t-shirt wrapped around his head. And immediately, I realized that he wants to try planting rice crops for the first time in his life, so, I obliged. I gave him some rice seedlings and then I thought him how to properly plant them.

Rice planting helps in developing a child's motor skills specifically his body balancing. While my son is on the muddy rice field I positioned him on his back and took a close at him because he might fall off the muddy water the rice field.

And of course, since this is his first to venture into rice transplanting and into the muddy rice field we took a photo for remembrance (photos below).

Riding Bicycle

A few days ago, before sunset, I brought my son to see the irrigation canal in our town. He said he is going to ride his bicycle but before he rode his bicycle I noticed that he put his toy fishing rod in the front carrier of his bicycle and off he goes while I am going just behind him.

I actually planned to bring him into our town's irrigation canal so that he is going to ride his bicycle and it worked.

Riding a bicycle also helps his motor skills especially his balancing while riding a bicycle. It also helps him to be physically active and learns road/bicycle safety.

Mock Fishing

After a few minutes of riding his bicycle, we finally arrived at our destination, the irrigation canal, and immediately he grabbed in toy fishing rod (composed of a stick, a rope used on rice sacks, and a miniature empty bottle of soft drinks).

Mock fishing also helps his motor skills especially in eye and hand coordination by the use of the fishing rod.

Sliding

Another couple of days ago, I and my wife decided to bring our son to a nearby plaza so that he can play on the plaza's slides (which is one of his favorites). We like to bring him to play on the slides to enjoy his time being a child and for his motor development and socializing with other kids.

Sliding is a lot of fun for kids, it also helps in developing a child's motor skills, especially the sense of balance.
