The 5 senses Introduction to kids πŸ‘…πŸ–πŸ‘‚πŸ‘πŸ‘ƒ

in Home Edders β€’ last year

Hello my favorite community,

We studied The 5 Senses of Human Body a little, not long ago.
Its not our first time talking about or learning about this topic. Actually, Caleb was aware of them and did very good the moment we did these activities.
We've read about them mostly in our books or mention them everytime the moments felt right. Thats why, it wasnt a surprise to see how quick and easy he put all these flashcards together, where they belong.

5 Senses Flashcards Sorting πŸ‘…πŸ–πŸ‘‚πŸ‘πŸ‘ƒ

We have a set of flashcards called The 5 senses. We worked on these at first.

There are 5 cards to represent all the 5 senses with their symbol:

  • πŸ‘ƒ nose for Smell
  • πŸ‘‚ ear for Hearing
  • πŸ‘ eye for Sight
  • πŸ‘… tongue (mouth) for Taste
  • πŸ– skin (hand) for Touch

I came with this idea of creating a snowflake out of flashcards, but of course, we had to sort them.
Caleb did all the job, 100%. I only gave him instructions and helped in when he didnt know what sense to chose for a flashcard.

This sorting/matching activity didnt last too long. We moved very quickly.

Some flashcards examples:

Taste: strawberries, lemon, chocolate
Hearing: piano, xilofon, guitar,
Smell: lavander, parfume, flower
Touch: pillows, pine cone, cactus, rock
Sight: window, painting, glasses, traffic lights

5 Senses Worksheets

I think learning about senses has some benefits in preschoolers and small children, like understanding the world around them or being more aware of their body. So why not? If your child responds positive to this topic, I think its great.

I found some worksheets on Twinkl, I downloaded them and then print them.

It sounds something like this:

"Things I can smell. Color the things you can smell"

"Our senses: Sight. Color all the things kids can see."

"Find and color. Put a circle around all objects you can touch".

We also read a page from one nutrition booked about the senses.

In the end, Caleb had to name a few things he can see, smell etc.
These are his answers:

I can see: people, cat, path
I can hear: people talking, cats meowing
I can feel: flour, other people's skin
I can smell: flowers, fries
I can test: lemon, fries

What good cards for the subject of the senses develop with the little ones at home; and your little Caleb so knowledgeable in the activity. Without a doubt he enjoyed it and learned a lot in the company of his mommy. What a good job and friendly strategy.

Greetings and blessings
