With the onset of the pandemic one of the challenges we faced was homeschooling. I have a preschooler, she is very smart and has adapted well. Although sometimes I find it a little difficult to get her to follow instructions because she likes to do things her own way. She learned to read very quickly and on her own initiative, on the other hand she doesn't like to write very much. I have noticed that it is a little difficult for her to hold the pencil in the correct way, thanks to several publications in this community I learned that we should work on fine motor skills.

One of the activities sent by the school consisted of organizing equal figures, so I thought of doing it in a different way to help her in her writing process. For this I used contact paper or adhesive paper with a stencil, marked and cut out several different shapes.

Then I got down to work, I explained to her that the task was to put in each row the corresponding figures, but this time they would be stickers, who doesn't like stickers ;). This got her excited, besides the figures were of different colors.

Then the goal is for her to take the little stickers with her hands and peel off the paper, for this she needs to make tweezers with her thumb and index finger. At first it was a little difficult and she was not very convinced, but every time she managed to peel the paper off she could see her happy face for her little achievement.

This helped her concentration, her fine motor skills, she noticed that not all the figures had the same amount of stickers, so she asked if I had missed them hahahaha. She was very happy with this assignment, so I will be doing more fun activities to improve her fine motor skills and facilitate her writing process.

I have also been recommended to buy Jumbo pencils and crayons that are thicker than the normal ones so that she learns the correct posture. I would like if any of you have experience with this type of pencils to give me your opinion. Thanks for reading.

Although sometimes I find it a little difficult to get her to follow instructions because she likes to do things her own way.

Don't they all? Some are more forceful about it, though. 🤣

Ultimately, one of the joys of homeschooling is when you figure out how to get them to the goal in a way they they enjoy and therefore learn more quickly than if it's an unpleasant task.

Do you have access to painting materials? I wonder if a thick paintbrush and water, to write letters on the pavement, would help. I often saw kids get so much enjoyment dipping in the water and forming the letters on the floor outside. You could even pretend it's like a wand and tell her she has to hold it in the correct way in order to make the spell work. She could do this with paper and paints too, if you have the materials.

Yes, my daughter is very forceful hehe. Thanks for the advice, I don't have a thick brush but I will get one since she loves to paint. Thanks
