Korean Traditional Modern Architecture At Eunpyeong Hanok Village

Surrounded by mountains and around Bukhansan National Park, it was a refreshing and pleasant stroll in Eunpyeong Hanok Village - where you'll feel like you're transported to ancient times.

It was the first day of my South Korea trip with friends and our first destination was to see this Korean village in Eunpyeong-gu, located at the northwestern part of Seoul. From downtown, we rode buses with 2 transfers, so after an hour or less, we reached this peaceful village. It was worth the hassle of traveling because we got to see the hanok, which means traditional Korean house.

Apart from tourists, I also saw some hikers. This village must be the starting point when people want to hike the surrounding mountains. My friends and I came for the village though and it didn't disappoint!

I so love the details of these houses. I heard these are modernized, meaning they're new but they still have the old school traditional vibe.

The gates, the doors, the roofs - it's so refreshing to see them!

And no, I didn't knock - someone might answer!

Even the small alleys are so gray and so stylish! And it's so clean too!

Apparently this hanok village was established on 2014 as the largest neo-hanok residential complex in Seoul. Source. I couldn't count how many houses were there but they're probably over a hundred.

The best thing I love at this Korean village is that there weren't a lot of tourists. I've been to another Korean village in Seoul (together with friends on another day) and I was just so glad we came here at Eunpyeong Hanok Village first. I love the vibes here. It's so peaceful and so spacious. I was definitely able to enjoy more here. Plus, the views of the nearby mountains make the neighborhood more calm and relaxing!

While we were enjoying our photo session, a homeowner arrived but good thing we weren't scolded or anything. He came with his car, parked and, went inside the house. So yes, people are living in these houses! They're not abandoned or for viewing only!

And because we're visiting a livable neighborhood, we're expected to not make loud noises. We tried our very best to talk quietly.

Eunpyeong Hanok Village might be far from downtown Seoul but I recommend coming here. If you love these kind of cultural expeditions, this place will surely impress you as it did with us. There are no entrance fees to the village. I believe there's a nearby museum but maybe that has an entrance fee.

Too bad we only stayed here for half a day as we're off to another province in the afternoon. We could have stayed longer and explore the area - visit the museum and look for temples.

Anyways, that's from me at Eunpyeong Hanok Village~

See you around! じゃあ、またね!

Was planning to upload the video via 3speak but seems like 3speak has a problem so I added the Youtube shorts video instead.

Although we noticed that you included more than one PIN code in the post. This is not necessary and can lead to double pinning, it can lead to problems for our curation, so if you keep doing it we can not guarantee you to be considered for our daily Travel Digest.

We recommend that you obtain the code either from https://worldmappin.com/, or by selecting the location directly on the small map at the bottom of the text editor in the PeakD interface. The code you provide for pinmapple is no longer valid, as that web domain no longer exists. Including the code just once is enough, regardless of the frontend you use, that's up to you.

I see, I was confused for a bit but thanks for clarifying. I also just noticed there’s a map now in peakd. Very convenient!

No problem, that's what we are here for, to help in any way we can. Thank you very much for considering our suggestions, it is very helpful.
Oh and yeah, the PeakD team is awesome, they have done a great job, in fact you could enable a tab in your profile with your personal map:

Ganda talaga!

The village is so scenic and for someone who enjoys strolling around these spots, definitely on my list.

It's definitely nice to stroll around here Mac! I think there's a hanok house here that's a cafe, but I'm not so sure. If it really is, I would have stayed there if I still have time.

How long were you there? did you also try soondae ?

10 days 😂 but i've also been working there on some weekdays.
soondae? blood sausage? nope! T_T next time i will add that to my list! is that good?

Oh my, yong dating sa mga KDrama lang nakikita no? It is so beautiful in there, the house is as beautiful as the place. Whoa, you really enjoy walking and looking around there. I wish I can teleport, para mabisita ko yarn 😻😻🤧
