busy + steem-ua + sbdpotato: Never powerdown Basic curation + UI + HBD stabilization project

in #hive4 years ago (edited)

What? 350? This isn't an April Fools’ Day joke.

Out of 350,

  • 90% will be converted on chain (like sbdpotato) and power up @curationstudio forever for (busy+steem-ua style) curation
  • 10% will be used for minimal server/maintenance costs.

Benefits

  • Basic curation (busy+steem-ua style)
  • Financial independence, not relying on delegation from central authority.
  • Alternative UI (busy will be forked and run independently with a new name). But, it doesn't require to use the UI to get upvoting.
  • HBD stabilization. Funds will be converted on chain (i.e., burning HBD) which helps reducing HBD debt ratio and haircut. Currently, steem is under the haircut.
  • Support other services (e.g., @steemfinex, @scotauto, @scotview, @finex) I've been providing and other future services I will provide.

Background

Both busy and steem-ua stopped their operation. While busy website is still running, it is no more maintained and more likely to be stopped eventually (While it's directing to hive, but this is only due to it's using https://anyx.io, since https://api.steemit.com doesn't provide enough API call limit for busy. It's not like busy supports hive. I'm not an official member of Busy, and my best guess is Busy has no opinion about Steem vs Hive. I contacted ekitcho (CEO of Busy) several times, but no responses). Steemit also retracted delegation from busy. Although I started @curationstudio to make busy+steem-ua curation independent of delegation, the undelegation happened too soon.

Financially independent non-profit curation project is needed

imho, there are decent numbers of good devs and investors but not many contents to read. There are quite nice posts about Steem and Hive, but that's it. How many people are interested in contents on this topic? Growing is impossible this way.

Even worse, opinions are extremely biased mainly due to rewards.

Writing objective opinions about the system is also almost impossible.

Face the reality.

How do potential users outside think about this situation? Are they willing to come in this situation? No.

Even without the current fight, the situation can't be resolved.

Is it really possible for good writers to buy Steem on their own and beg for upvoting? What they want is not money but that doesn't mean that they want to see shameful reward on their posts.

Busy's voting has been doing a good job so far. I can't say it was perfect, but they were pretty good.

I worked for Facebook before and now I'm in academia.

I made many Github contribution across busy, steem chain, steemkeychain, nitrous, steem python library, and also wrote many information and analysis postings. I was "awarded" the community contribution MVP by Steemit.

How many people appreciated such contributors? Not many.

The biggest problem of Steem/Hive may be the culture of no appreciation.

I have been helping Steem ecosystem voluntarily. While initially I was able to enjoy and feel fulfilled, to be honest not any more in the current situation. I believe there are many users like me who already left or will left or will not enter.

Hope this project help many users to write and contribute happily.

This project will start when the funding starts.
