OK, for once I don’t mean “conspiracy” stuff like deep state accounts or even which whales are giving the best hand jobs in the perpetual circle jerk.
I mean tech geek stuff! Here are five things I think Hive desperately needs. And it needs them all out in public, not in some secret room on Discord.
ONE: Daily "WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON?" Posts.
All week I've been having an issue – images wouldn't post on Peakd. I’ve been working around that by posting temporary thumbnails and then editing my posts and comments in Hive Blog. Other people had this problem too, but nobody was talking. Is it fixed now? - right now it mostly seems to be, but who knows?
It seems like there is always something not working, driving us all batty, but nobody ever says peep about it. And that is a big issue with this ever evolving but wobbly platform where we all know jack shit.
TWO: A Hive Search Bar that actually works.
Why is it just about impossible to find anything on Hive? Today I’m trying to find out why images won’t post, and I have to use Duckduckgo to find nothing helpful at all. Why no Hive Search Bar?
THREE: All the useful shit that was on Steemit years ago and has since disappeared
There were all sorts of things, but today what I wanted is to be able to click on my list of people I follow and sort them alphabetically. Yeah, Steemit had that back in 2016. Bloody useful – where did all those handy things go?.
FOUR: a decent set of instructions
Hive is as confusing as hell, and all the badly written instructions just increase the confusion even more. The only person who seems to be able to write them properly is @slobberchops.

Things not only seemed more lively back when I joined but you are right you could find subjects and topics much more easily before they went to these communities. Communities has destroyed the whole environment. You can't find relevant topics, search for anything, hell you comments don't even show up after you hit post. You have to go to your profile to see them. Remember when you upvoted someone and it actually showed up?...that doesn't happen anymore either. It's like your comments and upvotes go off into another dimension somewhere before arriving at Hive. If I check all my notifications then blog for awhile and notice someone left me a new notification I have to open a new browser window to see it. That's how I knew my upvote the other day was worth a penny to someone, I upvoted them after commenting, they commented back, I couldn't see their comment in notifications after being notified so I closed out my browser and reopened in a new one, I could then see them in notifications, clicked on the notice and seen the comment and that my upvote to them gave them a penny. It's crazy for sure. I liked the old way of doing things where you had tags and could go through the authors, read what they wrote and decide if you liked them or not.
I've been hitting refresh for months to work around that and nearly forgotten it worked fine for the previous four years...
I didn't think about hitting refresh...lol.
Hive is like a computer...restart!
Hivemind changed things, now there is a delay between posting to the chain and seeing that on a front end.
Before the data was accessed directly, but now it waits for hivemind to update.
It usually doesn't take very long.
What is search?
I either bookmark stuff, or it is gone.
On steemit they had a search engine, it let you reference articles written on steemit about whatever subject matter you were looking for. Think of it as the google search of the blockchain, you'd plug in the topic and it'd bring up the articles written. In comparison when they came out with the steemit keychain and you wanted to read articles written on it for references as to how it worked, where to go to install it, how it operates, opinions on it, etc., and most importantly you could see who wrote the articles so you could choose a trustworthy source. Now on Hive it isn't that way, I am still halfway stuck into setting the keychain up because I have questions because it said you want to do it this way or that way....well heck what's the difference and there's no search engine to go find the answer and the person I asked hasn't gotten back to me.

I got rid of discord a while ago. I rarely used it and it automatically would start to load every time I turned on my computer. I got tired of waiting for it to load so I could click it off.

I think google will search just hive if you put colons around it, or something.
I'm sure there is a way to search this page using google, but I don't use it, so I can only tell you to look around, it is there.
You can use discord in the browser, just sign in.
It will try to push you to the app, don't do it, just use the browser.
I do this.
When I loaded up my keychain I just copy/pasted the keys from the pdf they gave me, and I only used the active and posting keys.
You might want to put your memo key in so that you can encrypt memos, but I don't use it much.
You are missing out big time. Discord is where the best of the best of the circle-jerks take place. In fact, that's where you need to go to get jerked in the first place. It is a multi-step process, that requires you to be a geek on the "back end".

the rep system is inherently flawed and people can buy rep but I see you're like me and just do your own thing and utilize it for your own organic "journey", as far as where things happen, a lot is in discord and just in smaller chans where a lot of geeks hang (myself included, am in tech to say the least) As far as when I read of the meetings the dev types have that's their circle and the basic consensus over time is that nobody owes anyone anything. Personally kinda think some like to keep the pie real small and as far as respect I'm pretty sure you are respected by the right people (sometimes not making 400 for a picture of your feet is also a message)

I have learned that of all the qualities to value , loyalty is numero uno, in this petri dish it shows all our true colors and Discord runs off a Google Cloud Platform so O.o
Not only that, but why are we using a different forum to discuss Hive? Kinda defeats the purpose of having Hive in my opinion. People keep telling me to join discord. I say screw that...I already joined hive...

Don't know wtf slobberchops is our go-to instruction manual but I sure am glad someone's doing it cuz I still get confused around here.
Another issue that hasn't been resolved since I returned to the platform is attaching a custom gif in peakd—can't be done. When I want to attach one of my motion images, I have to attach in ecency, then copy/paste it over to peakd. If I try pasting a custom gif that says "gif" at peakd, it comes out still and jpeg. No clue why it does that.

Not only this as if I knew how to get you unpublicly (private) such as on discord or whatever, then I would know where to thank you for all of your great support to our charity.
When I was born they still used the old crank handle telephones and the technical wonders of today and such did not exist over here. So, to get around fluently on PeakD for someone like me is like getting a regular heart attack :)

Hive Blog frontend is pretty much the same is Steemit - they never really improve or change it, but it works. Peakd is much more advanced but it seems to have a new problem every week. So I use both, side by side and go back to Hive Blog to work around problems..
That is a great idea and I think that I will from now do the same to run them sise by side.
Hopefully they will get PeakD constant one day, but it's still a work in progress.
If only they would notify us when they work on it.
A general notice board of daily activities would be a good idea.

Sounds like a start, but what I'm really looking for is a sort of daily Hive news updates account where the devs and people in the know tell everyone what is going on and what issues we might see.
And if a problem is ongoing, when it might be sorted. Right now there are things that haven't been working all this year, like new votes not showing up without having to hit refresh.

So glad I found this coz I was starting to feel like a moron on Hive. I have no clue what I'm doing but I'm gonna do it anyway. I'm writing everything on wordpress and just transferring over to here bit by bit for now. I'd hoped to be able to learn quickly just by playing with it but it's just not happening. I'm still clueless.......
