Inkito Update - Login feature

in #hive4 years ago (edited)

Hello there hiveans,

I'm back with more features on Inkito. Fundamental ones, I know, but I'm happy to be moving forward. I start with the essential and build up from there.

You can read more about the project in the Hive proposal in which I explain all of it.

But what is Inkito ?
Inkito is a new platform based on the Hive blockchain build specifically for the long form episodic content like comics or novels. It makes the reading experience better with an infinite loop and organises content as series throughout the site.

So here is what's new!

  • A cookie banner

It appears first time you visit the site. Once you made your decision, it disappears for ever. I would be using cookies for the login access token and features like bookmarks.

Not essential though so you can refuse.

  • The login link

That gets us to the login. You can now log to the site with hivesigner if you have an existing hive account. No register option for now but it will come.

Once logged in, you have access to a simple navigation menu on top.

  • Voting

You can also vote on content.

  • Fetching optimization.

I reworked my fetching calls to the hive api to reduce their number and so improve the overall speed of the site.

We are getting to the interesting stuff. I will be working next on the comment replies and follow features. Following will probably be to follow a creator rather than a series to mimic the hive implementation. I might be able to filter a reading list with the use of cookies though.

I'll keep you posted on the progress.

For any interested Hive creator out there!

You can already add your content to the platform using the right tags.

Adding the series id on all corresponding posts, writing it as follows "author-seriesname" (example: "jrej-shadesofmen") The series name is for you to choose but must be the same for all episodes.

Adding the tag "inkito-comics" or "inkito-novels" on your most recent post for ranking.

Optionally you can add categories as tags in your first episode. The categories could be any of the following. "action, comedy, drama, fantasy, horror, mystery, romance, scifi, sliceoflife"

The first post would include some of the main series info. The first image would be your series cover image and the title, the series title. Hope to see some of you over there.

Thanks for your support.

Any suggestions are welcome! Feel free to shout out any feature you'd love to see.

Stay tuned for more.

See you on the other side.

Jrej

This is very interesting!! I just came across this on HiveProjects
and I am very curious about how it works.
Thanks for your efforts and I am following for more!

Hey there @darkflame. Thanks a lot for the comment. I'm glad you bumped into me. I basically followed the Hive api docs and the hivesigner methods for this. It mostly works with a series of dedicated tags that I can filter with. The site first fetches content with the tag "inkito", then looks for the series id tag (author-seriesname) which is unique to each series. It removes duplicates, fetchs needed information and display. Et voila!

Very good stuff! I'll wait to create my own account in Inkito, before posting. Keep it up :)

I've just been going back and editing the tags on my old posts to get them linked to Inkito. It was kinda tempting to repost & maybe get some fresh rewards though. 🤔

@bryan-imhoff I know the feeling! I was tempted to post Shades Of Men all over again to make episodes more consistent but actually decided in editing existing content. This will force me to come up with new stuff I suppose...

Good to see you here IB. You can actually login with your Hive account. No posting feature for now but I'll get to it after that. Can't wait to see your first pages posted through Inkito. It'd be a good way to see if everything works fine.

Really looking forward to be posting here :) Thanks again for this awesome opportunity!
