OpenAI writes a short article about Hive

I wanted to have some fun with OpenAI, as I've always been fascinating (and admittedly, a bit scared) by artificial intelligence. So I decided to give it a try and ask for an article on Hive. I quickly realized that I'd have to be a bit more precise regarding what I wanted, and came up with the following prompt :

Write an article about the Hive blockchain. In the first paragraph, discuss the Hive fork from Steem, after Just Sun's takeover. In paragraph 2, discuss Hive advantages as a blockchain. In the third one, talk about the Hive ecosystem (games, blogging, videos). Then, tell users how to keep their keys secure on Hive. Finally, write a conclusion about the future of Hive.

Here's the result, using text-davinci-002 model (GPT3):

Hive by OpenAI

The Hive blockchain is a fork of the Steem blockchain that occurred after Justin Sun’s takeover of the Steemit Inc. company. The fork was necessary in order to save the Steemit community from Justin Sun’s hostile takeover attempt. The Hive community decided to create a new blockchain that would be completely decentralized and not controlled by any one person or company.

The Hive blockchain has many advantages over other blockchains. One of the most important advantages is that it is completely decentralized. This means that there is no one person or company in control of the Hive blockchain. This is extremely important because it ensures that the Hive blockchain cannot be censored or shut down by any one entity. Another advantage of the Hive blockchain is that it is much more energy efficient than other blockchains. This is because the Hive blockchain uses a Proof of Stake consensus algorithm instead of a Proof of Work algorithm.

The Hive ecosystem is full of different applications and services that have been built on top of the Hive blockchain. These applications and services include games, blogging platforms, video sharing platforms, and many other types of applications. The Hive ecosystem is constantly growing and expanding. There are many different ways to earn Hive tokens. You can earn Hive tokens by posting original content on the Hive blockchain, by upvoting and commenting on other people’s content, or by participating in various Hive-related games and applications.

If you want to use the Hive blockchain, you will need to create a Hive account. You can do this by going to the Hive website and following the instructions. Once you have created a Hive account, you will need to generate a private key. This private key is what will allow you to access your Hive account. It is important to keep your private key safe and secure. You should never share your private key with anyone. If you lose your private key, you will lose access to your Hive account.

The Hive blockchain has a bright future. The Hive community is full of passionate and talented individuals. The Hive ecosystem is constantly expanding and growing. The Hive blockchain is a great platform for developers to build applications and services. If you are looking for a blockchain that is censorship-resistant and decentralized, then Hive is the perfect blockchain for you.

Thoughts about the result

Overall not bad at all, although some information is incomplete.

The first paragraph answers pretty well the prompt about the fork and its reasons, although not in much detail.

Second one focuses on decentralization, censorship and efficiency without looking too much at the technical advantages such as quick block time, account recovery, etc.

I hoped we would get names of Hive dApps in the third paragraph but nop, it still makes a decent job describing the ecosystem though.

Same here, I hoped to see Hive Keychain mentioned but try again. It misses the point on keys granularity as well, it looks more like a generic introduction on how to use blockchain keys.

Gotta love the conclusion though!

That was a fun experience. What do you think about it, let me know in the comments! =)

I wanted to have some fun with OpenAI, as I've always been fascinating (and admittedly, a bit scared) by artificial intelligence.

If we think about it deeply, then it is more scary than fascinating. I would like to recommend watching the Terminal Error (2002) film, if you have not watched it already. This film is showing probably the darkest possible future. Yet theoretically there is a very high chance for this in the (maybe not so) distant future. Especially if we think about the development of the machine learning, and everything related.

I don't think scary and fascinating are mutually exclusive.
This https://waitbutwhy.com/2015/01/artificial-intelligence-revolution-2.html gives a really good example on how an AI could destroy us while completing its benevolent mission, far from the evil AIs that we can see in some movies.

Saludos, la dirección no abre.

Not bad! It jumped at out at me that "Proof of Stake" was mentioned instead of "Delegated Proof of Stake"

Oh I must have read too fast! ^^
It did write DPOS in another iteration though!

Actually this whole post, not just that small piece in the middle, was written by AI right!? 😱😱😱

you got me!

I get the feeling that these AI models are only going to get better but at unbelievable speeds. I was reading the other day that a new AI model and paper has been released every day of this year so far. The current progress is insane! Singularity incoming!

Wen singularity?!

Let's hope we won't crash too hard into that wall =p

Yeah, dude... We are truly headed to a place where no one has gone before. We can't even begin to imagine what the world will look like in the next few decades! Scary but exciting.

It's good overall, a generic way to present the Hive blockchain. It's more generalized and lacks some specific details. It's AI, so the personality part is still missing. But I think future AIs will be less generic and more individualized. It's a tricky landscape.

Yeah, it's still a bit too generic, but not as much as I would have thought

Yes, it's getting better rapidly. Most of us think that AI is still far into our future but it's not, it's lurking right here in the present lol, barely getting noticed.

What I need is really a button to summaries the post.

I'm pretty sure it could do this

It's pretty crazy that we are already reading articles created by AI on certain occasions. It's only going to become more common. I'm sure you've also heard of DALL-E 2 from OpenAI, if not you should check it out https://openai.com/dall-e-2/. Better find a way to embrace AI sooner rather than later.

I wonder how OpenAI writing compares to Jasper. I did a video on Jasper a few months ago: https://peakd.com/hive-196387/@daltono/edvlkgcj

Yeah I tried DALL-E and a few others.
I've participated in the Beta of Midjourney and I found it even more impressive. I might write a post about it as well =)

Please do. I've never heard of Midjourney before.

Dall-E 2 is a lot of fun to use. They don't have faces down right, but there are so many possibilities with it.

I haven’t gotten a chance to use it yet, they never approved me for it. I’m dying to throw some wild ideas at it. So far I’ve only been able to watch other people’s videos about it.

Hmm, I found it, and yes it sounds interesting, but they only have a waitlist and it is so far only open on the invite. I hope it will not be the same irritable disappointment as the Clubhouse ( it was also on the invite and after big bells dished out a substandard audio, I don't know if they fixed that.)

Interesting! It simply means we need to put out more data about Hive, its ecosystem, its history & how it works. Moreover, can you try generating more variations of the same topic and keywords?

The good thing is that we generate content all the time!
Yeah, you can produce variations, and even ask for the ai to make modifications.

The article is good but it seems to me that the idea is too generalized, it does not specifically talk about the things that Hive offers. But hey, overall, it's positive.

That's true. That's generally a problem with transformer networks (the type of neural network used in GPT3) =)

Yeah, I think a lot of keywords such as blockchain and crypto will generate more generalized result, but apart from that, it still gives some specifics.

The result is pretty good. I expected it to be a lot worse =)

me too tbh!

Very interesting post, I have to look into more of this AI stuff. I have seen a lot of posts recently about the picture-generating AI and that seems pretty cool as well. Well, thank you for an excellent post.

If you're interest in learning how those language models work I suggest you check out the following video:

=)

I will check it out, thank you for the suggestion =)

Cool experiment. The result is really good for an "open AI".

At some point google will rewrite the internet :O

not what's on chain ;)

This is really cool! I liked your thought and I admit that the end result was interesting 😊😊

It's an interesting result, the GPT3 grew up well and makes sentences much better structured than before and especially without inconsistencies 👍

Yeah, it's developing fast!
Wen singularity?

Impressive when it boils down to it. Do you think if prompted again, it will get better at the task? Certainly useful for helping start off an article, as you could then go through it and polish it off. Some people may prefer that to the proverbial blank page beginnings?

You can actually ask it to edit the results.
I've asked :

Edit the third paragraph to include the names of popular Hive dApps

And got this :

The Hive ecosystem is full of different applications and services that have been built on top of the Hive blockchain. These applications and services include games (such as Splinterlands), blogging platforms (such as Peakd), video sharing platforms (such as 3Speak), and many other types of applications. The Hive ecosystem is constantly growing and expanding. There are many different ways to earn Hive tokens. You can earn Hive tokens by posting original content on the Hive blockchain, by upvoting and commenting on other people’s content, or by participating in various Hive-related games and applications.

Really impressive!

Flippin’ ‘eck! That’s incredible. Yep it’s a bit scary too

The impact of hive is really awesome and the progress of the blockchain keeps on progressing daily as everyone's contribution is really making the blockchain to advance to another level. The hive blockchain as been said is not controlled by anyone which is a good initiative and this however have make the progress occur in a positive state that have attracted a lot of individuals to be part of this awesome blockchain.

The Hive blockchain is regarded as a one big family where everyone contribution is to see their fellow individual grow in the blockchain which is really awesome and I believe there is more progress that will occur soon to see hive make it to the top in the nearest future.

Wow! Thank you for your support. :)

in a nutshell and by far #Hive is the best blockchain the fork was necessary to protect us from any intervention

Tremendous summary about what the Hive ecosystem is, I really liked this summary, it really is like that, in addition to the fact that we make ourselves known within the ecosystem as musicians in my case and share my violin with other users, I in particular has helped me a lot in the purchase of my instruments to record and make my videos better, I also help a cancer relative with his medications, they are not always high votes but it is always a great help to continue publishing and doing what I like

Congratulations @stoodkev! You received a personal badge!
