Hey Bro !
I use an Ubuntu-based distro (Pop_OS) and i was at HiveFest !
For the future with AltSpaceVR :

• Update your system and your graphics card drivers
• Install Steam
• Try to install AltspaceVR from steam, it doesn't work vbut it's now on your library
• Right click -> Properties -> Compatibility
• Check "Force the use of a specific Steam play compatibility tool"
• Select "Proton Experimental"
  And install it and launch it ! VOILA :)
