Promote HIVE on Facebook using Profile Photo Frame

in #hiveposh3 years ago

Recent events regarding Facebook, Twitter, Youtube et consortes proves that the current state of social media is not well. But at the same time these happenings provide a fuel for alternative social media platforms to grow, as more and more people lose their trust with the more centralized platforms mentioned above. This is a huge opportunity for HIVE to thrive and attract many users fleeing from Facebook.

But how to do it?

One of the most visible trends within the last few months are the growin use of so called Frames, which anyone can use to modify their Facebook Profile Photo and add a simple label. People use it for all sorts of different things: to support politicians, organizations, movements, promote events or simply give voice to their opinions on different topics.

I thought: why not use it to let people know that there is an alternative for Facebook—and it's called HIVE?

Meet me at HIVE.BLOG

I am proud to present you the Meet me at HIVE.BLOG Frame for Facebook Profile Photos. Using it, you can show people that you're using the platform and at the same time invite them to join us in this revolution.

This is a small action that you can take, but imagine what would happen if each one of us did so? A tonne of new potential users would get to know that there is this things called HIVE and that they are invited to join!

To apply this Frame to your Profile Photo you have to:

  1. Open your Profile Page on Facebook.
  2. Click on your Profile Photo and choose to update it.
  3. In the newly opened modal choose the option Add Frame.
  4. You'll see a list of proposed Frames. Use the search bar and look for: Meet me at HIVE.
  5. Select the Frame, add a link to your profile in the Description field and choose Use as Profile Picture.

I encourage all of you to promote HIVE using this method, as well as any others! It's in our hands to promote the platform among our families, friends, acquaintances and other people.

You should follow @instytutfi as well, as I am going to make more promotional materials in the upcoming weeks: images, printables and more. Stay tuned!

Thanks @theycallemedan for the heads up.

I try not to use the horrible site, but I do have a link on there - it probably gets one hit a month or more. Maybe.

There's an English version as well, why would you use the Polish one? I can quickly make a Spanish one if you want! Will ¡Encuéntrame en Hive.blog! be good, or ¡Estoy en Hive.blog! is better? I do not speak Spanish so please let me know!

Also, thanks for using the frame! :)

Wow... To be able to have the frame in Spanish that would be awesome dude. That would make me a very happy Hivers. I accept your proposal and I will be looking forward to that frame.

@edwardstobia Thanks, I made another frame in Spanish this time. To add you you proceed just the same, just use Estoy en HIVE.blog phrase as this is the name of the frame. Hive on! :)

Thank you for your help... I am happy for this gesture my friend @instytutfi

As I understand it, Facebook has stopped registering updates with the HIVE framework. Trying to do this for 30 minutes, but it doesn't work? Function - Use as profile photo does not work.

It works for me. Could you try to describe the problem in a more detailed way? I'll try to help.

The problem is that I am doing everything as it should - I paste the link, but when I click on - Use as profile photo does not work. Why dont know?

Maybe try it with a different browser or in a incognito mode? Maybe you have some browser extensions installed which interfere with Facebook?

Are there any error messages along the way? Is the Use as profile photo button dissabled, or clickable, but simply does not do anything?

Yes. I will now try to disable all extensions and ad blockers. Apparently, this is the case? And then I'll write.
Thank!

And here is the result...

Something is not right, but what exactly I cannot understand?

I don't really know too. Everything seems fine from the screenshot that you provided. The big blue button button should apply the change.

As a last resort, you could try to open the Chrome console and see if there are any errors or other messages printed out there when you try to apply the photo frame.
