Everyone is created to love and to be loved. Every human being is a relationship being. Relationship, especially romantic relationship is an inevitable or unavoidable part of life. Whoever does not have this part of life is not a complete human being; maybe a spirit being!
Double Dating is a very critical social affair, especially among the young people, which has a lot of implications on them. And I'm so excited that I have the ample space and time to share my views, what I think about this trending social issue: "Double Dating".
Hence, I think it is expedient for me at this point to set my objectives, in order to enable me pivot through my discussion.
🎯My Objectives
By the time I'm done with sharing my views on "Double-Dating, you should be able to understand:
1. What is Double-Dating?
2. Reasons why I think people practice Double-Dating.
3. Reasons why Double-Dating should be avoided.
4. My conclusion on Double-Dating.
Let's dive into our discussion in details!
1. What Is Double–Dating?
Double–dating is a compound word, namely: Double and Dating.
But I would like to begin with the word—dating. Dating is a social or romantic relationship between two opposite sex(it's neither between man and man nor between woman and woman). It involves saying and doing romantic things. When you begin to hear sweet words like: 'You're the only angel that I have on earth', 'You're my African queen', 'You're my hero'etc, you should know that the chapter of dating or love has be opened!
On the other hand, double simply means two or more than one.
Therefore, Double–dating describes a situation where one person has a romantic affair with two people; it could be one man dating two women or one lady dating two men simultaneously.
Looking at what Double–dating entails, I'm still wondering about the possibility of surviving and succeeding in this kind of relationship adventure!🤔
What Double–dating Can Be Likened To
To what will I compare Double–dating? I'm just trying to be reasonable and realistic over this trending subject!
👉Double–dating is likened to a man attempting to control two steering wheels of two different cars at the same time. I'm sure anyone can without much thinking predict the immense tragedy that shall overwhelm such a man.
👉Double–dating is likened to a woman trying to sleep in two rooms concurrently. What a fruitless experiment!
👉I also compare Double–dating to a servant making effort to serve and please two masters at the same time. But in reality, he will end up pleasing one master and despising the other.
Many people may have different reasons for venturing into Double–dating, but with the above illustrations, I think it is impossible to attain and build a healthy romantic relationship, which should translate into a successful marriage in life time.
2. Reasons Why I Think People Practice Double–dating
i. Lack Of Confidence in their Partners:
For many, this is a major reason for Doubling their dates, as they cannot confide in their partners anymore.
ii. Lack Of Self–control:
Imagine yourself driving a car that has no brake! It means you will not be able to brake or stop the car, even if you see an obstacle or a pot–hole on your way; you just simply jam it. That's exactly what will happen to any young man or woman who has no self–control.
He or she sees whoever comes around as an object of dating.
iii. Confused Double–dating for Smartness:
We are living in a generation which confuses foolishness for smartness. Many young people in our days think they are being smart for Double–dating. Sincerely speaking, many of our young people are utterly confused when it comes to the issue of romantic relationship. They think they are playing games; 'If this one does not work out, the other one will click'🤏
iv. Lack Of Wisdom:
The Bible has it that, "...wisdom is profitable to direct". Lack of divine wisdom has created loop hole for the devil to fill in his wicked devices in the hearts of the young people. There's no fear of God before their eyes. There's no seeking of God's will in prayer before starting any romantic relationship.
Any journey of relationship that does not begin with God cannot be sustained by God.
3. Reasons Why Double–dating Should Be Avoided
As I share some few reasons why I feel that Double—dating should be discarded, I shall just swiftly highlight the ugly consequences of Double–dating.
They are as follows:
a. Emotional Hurt: Double–dating brings about emotional pain, as it often results into heart breaks.
b. Cheating And Deceitfulness: Cheating a partner in a relationship is self deceptive and evil. Double–dating is the root of all kinds of marital unfaithfulness!
c. Distrust: It also brings about lack of trust and confidence in the relationship, which might lead to breaking away if discovered.

d. Suicidal Death: This is no longer a mere story in our days that many who were victims of hearts' break attempted to or committed suicide, as they could not withstand the pains and the feelings of being cheated in the relationship.

My Personal Experience On This Topic
For now I do not have any of such experiences relating to this subject matter. This is because I do not have any form of romantic relationship yet. You want to know why? That's exactly what I'm gonna do now! Just follow me keenly.
The very day I had an encounter with the Lord JESUS, He transforms my thoughts and nature. So I made a prayer covenant. I vowed not to sleep around with any damsel I'm not legally married to. And I see the Lord JESUS supplying daily sufficient grace for me to fulfill my vow. I'm from a family bloodline with a high tendency of sexual immorality. If not for the Lord JESUS, I would have been a loosed he–goat, going about messing up young ladies.
What I keep telling myself is that, there is no need for any form of romantic relationship whatsoever, if I'm not ready for marriage. And that decision has been helping me to zip up till date. It is actually the grace of God upholding me all through.
4. My Conclusion: My Counsel
Having proven beyond every reasonable doubt or argument that Double–dating is not an ideal way of practicing romantic love, considering the fact that it has done more harm than good to many people or matrimonial homes, I want to press on to further bring my humble advice to the general public. My counsel includes:
👉Pray for divine guidance before you go into dating.
👉Go for a well defined single dating.
👉Avoid sexual intercourse during dating, until you and your partner are legally married.
The Holy Bible says, I quote:
"Run from sexual sin! No other sin so clearly affects the body as this one does. For sexual immorality is a sin against your own body".
"How can a young person stay pure? By obeying your word"(God's Word).

You had me at confused generation. Truly this generation is completely lost imagine fighting two losing battles and calling your self smart beside either of them knows they are being duped. The results usually always the same heartbreak for all three parties. The desire to want it all has always been a part of human nature but having control over greed is what completes you as a person
