As any normal week of the Featured Edition contest at Hive Learners we had 3 challenges. The festivities of achieving the 100th week were amazing, the challenges were the festivity that all members were invited to participate in. The first two challenges were more to talk about how we went through the contest week after week and how we grew internally with these topics. Now, the festivities couldn't finish in a better way, it is time to talk about things that we would change for the coming weeks. As many people wrote, I think the contest and the community an examples of success in the blockchain. If it wasn't it wouldn't last 100 weeks and since I started I saw the number of participants growing. But there are things that I would change for sure.
Como em qualquer semana normal do concurso Featured Edition no Hive Learners, tivemos 3 desafios. As festividades de alcançar a 100ª semana foram incríveis, os desafios foram a festa para a qual todos os membros foram convidados a participar. Os dois primeiros desafios foram mais para falar sobre como passamos pelo concurso semana após semana e como crescemos internamente com esses tópicos. Agora, as festividades não poderiam terminar de maneira melhor, é hora de falar sobre coisas que gostaríamos de mudar para as próximas semanas. Como muitas pessoas escreveram, eu considero o concurso e a comunidade exemplos de sucesso na blockchain. Se não fossem, não durariam 100 semanas e, desde que comecei, vi o número de participantes crescer. Mas há coisas que eu mudaria com certeza.
One thing that isn't very clear about the community is a tutorial on how the topics are chosen, maybe a summary should be posted in every, it can be a figure as well. We know after some daily appearances in the community's Discord server, that the topic alternatives are presented to be voted on during the Saturday hangouts. But this is not very clear when we just join the community, so, why not include that in the post about the contest? it can be a bullet point or like I said a figure with a workflow how it works. I would volunteer to do that, but there are some points still not clear to me during the voting, because since I started there I couldn't stay longer in these hangouts. That's another point, due to the timezone for me is the beginning of the morning in here with kids running around and breakfast to be served. I know that the topics should be chosen during the weekend since we have the first challenge on Monday, maybe there are better ways to gather opinions from everyone? We can try something like Inleo threads. Create a thread about the discussion within 24 hours to finish, or even inside the discord server we can create a channel for that and create a thread there. That way we avoid missing the opinion of people who could be even sleeping during the time zone. That type of solution would avoid some topics that I felt were too focused on a Western Christian point of view during Christmas and New Year. Starting last December 11th until January 8th, we had 12 Featured Contests with topics associated with "Holidays", at least it was generic the nomenclature not associated with Christmas and New Year, that's how at least here in North America is called this period because these two big Christian festivities, there is also Chanukah for the Jews, which isn't the biggest festival for this religion, and Kwanzaa, an African celebration which I understand that it isn't even a religious thing, but still they aren't big festivals in addition to Christmas and the Roman New Year. I understand sometimes people are into their communities and their communities don't have a religious variety. But countries with Islamic culture or Hindu culture don't have any religious holidays in December, and even the new year is not quite at the same time as us, Hindu New Year is around March/April and the Islamic new year starts around July. Since I joined the community, I have been instructed to avoid controversial topics and topics that can affect other cultures. Well, I was very surprised though when I saw people from Bangladesh, Pakistan, India, and many others still posting during this period trying their best to continue in the challenges. But in my point of view, the community failed a bit, even more since we had 12 challenges associated with subjects that people don't feel in their countries and communities. We can do a challenge with the holidays in December topic? Maybe, but only one is already good enough. But also we would need to include some other topics associated with Ramadan, Diwali, and other important festivals in other religions. Talking about that, do you know that we are starting the new year in China from this Friday to Saturday evening?
Uma coisa que não está muito clara sobre a comunidade é um tutorial sobre como os tópicos são escolhidos, talvez um resumo deva ser postado em todos, pode ser uma figura também. Sabemos após algumas aparições diárias no servidor do Discord da comunidade, que as alternativas de tópicos são apresentadas para serem votadas durante os encontros de sábado. Mas isso não é muito claro quando acabamos de entrar na comunidade, então, por que não incluir isso no post sobre o concurso? pode ser um ponto de bala ou como eu disse uma figura com um fluxo de trabalho de como funciona. Eu me voluntariaria para fazer isso, mas ainda há alguns pontos não claros para mim durante a votação, porque desde que comecei lá não pude ficar mais tempo nesses encontros. Esse é outro ponto, devido ao fuso horário para mim é o início da manhã aqui com crianças correndo por aí e café da manhã para ser servido. Eu sei que os tópicos devem ser escolhidos durante o fim de semana, já que temos o primeiro desafio na segunda-feira, talvez haja melhores maneiras de reunir opiniões de todos? Podemos tentar algo como threads no Inleo. Criar uma thread sobre a discussão dentro de 24 horas para terminar, ou até mesmo dentro do servidor do discord podemos criar um canal para isso e criar uma thread lá. Dessa forma, evitamos perder a opinião de pessoas que poderiam estar até dormindo durante o fuso horário. Esse tipo de solução evitaria alguns tópicos que senti estarem muito focados em um ponto de vista cristão ocidental durante o Natal e o Ano Novo. A partir de 11 de dezembro até 8 de janeiro, tivemos 12 Concursos em Destaque com tópicos associados a "Feriados", pelo menos a nomenclatura era genérica, não associada ao Natal e ao Ano Novo, é assim que pelo menos aqui na América do Norte é chamado esse período por causa dessas duas grandes festividades cristãs, há também Chanucá para os judeus, que não é a maior festa para esta religião, e o Kwanzaa, uma celebração africana que eu entendo que nem sequer é uma coisa religiosa, mas ainda assim eles não são grandes festivais além do Natal e do Ano Novo romano. Entendo que às vezes as pessoas estão em suas comunidades e suas comunidades não têm variedade religiosa. Mas países com cultura islâmica ou cultura hindu não têm feriados religiosos em dezembro, e até o ano novo não é exatamente na mesma época que nós, o ano novo hindu é por volta de março/abril e o ano novo islâmico começa por volta de julho. Desde que entrei na comunidade, fui instruído a evitar tópicos controversos e tópicos que possam afetar outras culturas. Bem, fiquei muito surpreso quando vi pessoas de Bangladesh, Paquistão, Índia e muitos outros ainda postando durante este período, fazendo o melhor para continuar nos desafios. Mas na minha opinião, a comunidade falhou um pouco, ainda mais porque tivemos 12 desafios associados a assuntos que as pessoas não sentem em seus países e comunidades. Podemos fazer um desafio com o tópico dos feriados de dezembro? Talvez, mas apenas um já é bom o suficiente. Mas também precisaríamos incluir alguns outros tópicos associados ao Ramadã, Diwali e outros festivais importantes em outras religiões. Falando sobre isso, você sabia que estamos começando o novo ano na China a partir desta sexta-feira até sábado à noite?

This is my last post of the week ending our festivities of 100th week in the Featured Edition. I hope that soon I complete my 100th week in this challenge, which will take a bit more time of course. Acredito que a comunidade está funcionando tranquilamente em muitos tópicos, é difícil corrigir todos os pequenos ajustes porque eles nunca acabam! Este é o meu último post da semana encerrando nossas festividades da 100ª semana na Edição em Destaque. Espero que em breve eu complete minha 100ª semana neste desafio, o que vai levar um pouco mais de tempo, é claro. I think there are some possible reason for choosing holidays and Christmas. Coincidencely the Christmas time remain holiday for students and workers because of winter vacation. I feel most of the people are from Nigeria and most of the them celebrate Christmas and they naturally suggest most of the topic. But still I feel some big festival like Eid, Durga Puja can be a topic in the festival time.

Concordo com você, seria legal ter uma postagem ou algo assim já apresentando qual seria os 3 tópicos da semana, poderia ser feito no domingo a postagem ou então até mesmo feita uma poll agora nas threads, pois aparentemente elas voltaram a funcionar. Sei que no Discord é possível votar os tópicos, mas acaba que nunca lembro ou me perco nos canais lá para fazer isso, enfim, é algo que da para melhorar.
Sobre o dezembro de 2023, foi realmente complicado, 1 mês inteiro com tópicos relacionado a feriados e natal e ano novo, foi algo difícil para mim, tanto que na minha postagem da semana 100 edição 1, eu escrevi justamente sobre isso, que foi os tópicos mais difíceis da minha vida e eu nem sei dizer porque, simplesmente não tinha como escrever porque iria sair todos bem parecidos e acho que não seria legal isso.
Enfim, a comunidade é incrível e tem tudo para crescer e melhorar mais ainda! Tamo junto mano!
