Seedlings - cortland, verbascum, heliotrope crop March 2023 .jpg

Well, on Wednesday morning, one thing led to another. I had to set up the seedlings so those who didn’t need a cover didn’t have one and all those who had not come up yet, did have one.

These are some of the storage onions that were up and verbascum and heliotrope that had come up. Once they were organized, I made notes about them. That again brought it to my attention that I had not yet transcribed last year’s garden notes nor finished the starting charts. Sigh…

So I bit the bullet and finished the starting charts. I was amazed that I was starting less than 1000 seedlings this year. Something like 768 actually. I’m having to use 2’ wide rows or bigger these days so I will really need that new garden next year.

I took a break around lunch time and then started transcribing the garden notes. I worked for a couple hours and made good progress. But there’s still several hours of work left…

On Thursday my general helper will be here. She’s just recovered from a cold, so I don’t know how much root cellar stuff she will be able to do. When she gets tired of that, we can do the easy job of feeding house plants.

Hopefully my helper friend is going to be ok and will be able to come at 11:30. I’ll just have him make me a meal, just have to figure out what and thaw out whatever it is he’s to cook.

Last year’s corned beef and cabbage

My brother asked about corned beef and cabbage and if I’m to make my own, I’d best thaw something out and get it going. It will be late for St. Patrick’s day as it takes at least 10 days to brine. But we will eventually have corned beef and cabbage.

Getting all your charts done was a huge accomplishment. Well done! That is a lot of plants woman. I have never counted how many I grow, perhaps I will try to estimate this year when they are all up. lol Stay warm this weekend as another nor-easter is supposed to be coming our way.
