Still Recovering - November 29, 2025 @goldenoakfarm

On Saturday morning when I pulled up the shades, I discovered it had snowed in the night. Not a lot but areas were white. It was a bright sunny day so I didn’t have to tend stoves much.

I wrote 2 posts and that took most of the morning. I got another load of dishes in the dishwasher and cleaned up a bit. But mostly I rested and read or played solitaire.

By late afternoon all the dishes were done but I still had a lot of stuff to put away. That would wait until Sunday.

At 4PM I turned on the candles and the Christmas tree. In an hour it was dark and I got the wood stoves lit.

The light from the wood stoves is comforting. Something about the flickering soft light and of course, the warmth, that radiates from them.

Just a shot I tried with the flash, but it doesn’t catch the real light of the fire.

As I turned around from the shot of the masonry heater, I noticed the reflection of the fire in the roundtop, above the candles. It’s this soft calm light that I so enjoy in the evenings. I keep all lights off throughout the house, just the candles. If I want to read I’ll have 1 light on.

I had the candles off, the fires going, shades pulled and was in bed by 8:30PM.

On Sunday I hope to start the bills/budget, get everything from Thursday put away and keep the stoves going. It’s to snow/rain most of the day but be a bit warmer. I have to call my neighbor to see if she can bring me to exercise class on Monday. I’m finally going to get started on all that.

Looks like it was such a cozy day, and it was pretty chilly here too. I love how you captured the warmth and calm, now I also feel like sitting by the fire.

Nothing better than a fire when it's cold and winter, cold doesn't really promote much action

I love the glow of the fires flickering! Your home looks so comfy cozy! We too are taking it slow getting everything back to normal. This week kicked both our butts with all the people and activities.

You are so right, the light from woodstoves is most comforting. It was 5F when I woke up yesterday, so I truly appreciated that warm, glowing light😁

Hope you got to go to your exercise class today and got all those bills done, I have a meeting for class and then get to do that bill thing too, yay!

I also have a lifelong desire to live in an area where it definitely snows a few days a year because I like it a lot.
