Last night putting the rugs on our horses I noticed one was lame on the nearside rear.
Turned out she had some hoof thrush.
Now that is a funk. It's a smell that gets you where you live.
Ended up cleaning it out and irrigating it with salene solution last night and again this morning.
Our farrier just left. He cleaned it up clinically and now all that remains is a lingering funk.
Hurrah.

Oh, that's a bummer! I don't have horses, but I've dealt with many a funky goat hoof. It's a smell like no other!
Hey, Cheers. Happy to report all is now ok.
Zoe, the mare in question is doing much better.

Yeah. Did the excessive salene flush that was the winner.
Read up on it and found also apple cider vinegar & or tea tree oil can be used to treat.
Also the fareyer said it can be treated with cooking oil. After irrigation use oil to seal it. Keep it free from oxygen.
Same way honey can be used.
