Hi everyone, I am Troy from The Do It Yourself World and The Off Grid Project. My family are homesteaders, preppers and outdoor enthusiasts who are sharing our daily lives living off the grid and trying to become self sufficient on a budget.
I have been a full time YouTuber since 2013 when I lost my job and apartment, moved into a camper during a blizzard and never returned to the rat race.
My first videos were sporadic and popular. I was suffering badly having moved into a camper in the woods with no preparation and hardly any necessities for survival. My cat and I made it through though and people wanted more videos. Every day they tuned in to see what would Troy do today? Would he survive?
I eventually built an off grid tiny house on wheels on my forest homestead. Later I got married. When a baby was on the way we moved to Michigan to be closer to my family.
Now we have two houses and a garage on 18 acres of wooded land surrounded by State land.
And we are still making our way on our own and still making videos.
I have not tried this site before and heard about it from a friend from another platform which you are all aware of. Not sure if I can mention it here or not so I wont. I blogged heavily back then and did quite well.
Now I am here to see how well I can make it on Hive.
I will be sharing my experiences each day along with a link to my video of the day.

Welcome friend! I wish you the best luck here and in the real world. I am also doing my best to live off grid and am building on an 18 acre farm. I am starting on our home. And I'm hopeful to get it done(floor, roof and walls at least) before old man winter catches me. It can be a slow climb here, but if you stick with it and do your best to interact with the community, you'll gain traction. Cool! Thanks for the welcome. I always wanted to build a cabin like that. I did build a miniature log cabin in the woods for hunting. I will have to check out your posts.
