This answer assumes that there is a choice. And the people who have choice are those with a fairly comfortable background.
I have lived in the US [for a decade] and 2 decades in India. I made a conscious decision to move to India from the US as India is good enough country for me.
For a middle class person, India is a safer place than the USA. India’s crime rates are lower in general compared to the USA and even lower when you are middle class. Guns are very rare and I don’t have to worry much on a random shooter going on a rampage.
Accessing doctors is quite easy. My doctor is 3 doors away and I walk in - no paperwork, insurance, appointment booking. In US, we had to worry a lot on what is covered, what is not and the doctors being always scared of malpractice suits give far more tests than needed.
Regarding schools, the rate of crimes and bullying is lower. So low that a single crime among 1.3 billion people becomes a front page news. In US, I have to worry about which districts have good schooling and which doesn’t as public schools don’t admit outside their districts. Private schools are not affordable for most middle class. Indian schools are not cheap, but there are some affordable schools in the middle.
US is also way too regulated when it comes to parenting. Parents have been arrested for “crimes” of allowing their 12 year old to walk in their neighborhood or park without supervision. I don’t want the state to be parenting me.
Climate is much more moderate - at least here in Bangalore. Don’t have to worry about extreme summers or winters like I did in the east coast.
Many middle class are religious and it is easier to be religious in India - with access to temples.
Of course, poverty exists in India - but the people who have the luxury to ask this question are not really poor.
So you're a man. What if you were a woman? Do you think an American woman and an Indian woman have the same opportunities? To start a career, to choose her husband, to buy a car, and so on?
