Nippon Cave on the Hill

in #indonesia4 years ago

My hobby is watching movies. Including War films. After watching, often the surefire of Earth conditions during World War 2.

My country Indonesia, very feel bitter war condition at the time. Even after the independence of 1945, war still happened.

My age is now 46 years. Did not feel the terrible war. I and my generation can only see the silent witness of that terrible incident.

One of those relics, Nippon Cave in Blang Panyang village, Lhokseumawe, Aceh. In 1942, the Japanese Army deployed a local citizen (Romusa) to make a defensive hole on the hill. A strategic place is a hill in Blang Panyang, because directly faced with the Straits of Malacca.

The cave was also the last camp if the American Allied forces managed to dominate the airfield located in Blang Lancang. Now the location is already a gas exploration company PT Arun.

The cave is not large, the door is only 2x3 meters in diameter. Depth of 4 meters above the surface of the hill. Not more than 10 meters in length. There are some spaces in it, there are kitchen, rest room and isolation chamber.

A veteran of the Acehnese army who had been throwing Japan at the time, Tgk Ibrahim. He claimed many Japanese soldiers who died in the cave. He recalled the tragedy of disarmament against the Japanese soldiers who surrendered at the Cunda railway station in 1945. Located 1 kilometer west of the cave location.

Disarmament ended war, with the Aceh army. At the end of the local army wins and manages to occupy the railway station. A few days later, the Aceh Army moved eastwards.

Ibrahim recalled to a dawn, and some of his friends managed to infiltrate the bush on a hill, after passing a Japanese army outpost. and successfully attacked 3 Japanese soldiers who were outside the cave.

At the time, he briefly saw some prisoners of local people being put into the cave and tortured to death.

Ibrahim is now very old. He remembers only a few incidents. Until finally all the Japanese soldiers were crushed. There was also a captive and transported to North Sumatera by orders of Nica's allies.

Nowadays, the location of Japanese caves has turned into a tourist visit. The local government has built several facilities to support tourism programs in Aceh.

Hopefully this historical evidence remains sustainable. So that the history of the Dark War remains a study of gerenation forward.

Warmest regards
