Hello fellow steemians!
It's time for my first post on Steemit, and what's a better way to start by introducing myself. My name is Cynthia and I am a 30 year old health care worker and I live in the beautiful city Rotterdam!
Things that make me happy
There are a lot of things that make me happy and I would like to share some of these things with you know and in my upcoming posts.
Travelling I love to discover new places worldwide. I've visited some parts of Europe, Africa and Asia. My last big trip was to Vietnam for 3 weeks. But there are still a lot of countries on my bucketlist! And my bucketlist seems to grow very fast. My next short trip will be to Bruges this upcoming weekend. So any recommendations to see, do and eat in Bruges are more than welcome.
Discover new places I also love to discover new places closer to home, in Rotterdam or the neighbourhood or somewhere else in the Netherlands. I go for a walk in a nature reserve or take the bike to explore the area or I choose to visit a city centre or a museum for example.
Running Last year I've participated in a run called "zevenheuvelenloop". During 15 kilometers I have beated the seven hills in a beautiful scenery. Now I am training for my first half marathon in the beginning of March. I am a bit nervous and really excited to participate in a big run like this. My primary goal is just to finish the run.
Food and wine Or the combination of both. I like to try new restaurants and let them surprise me, but I don't eat fish.
Baking I love to bake and try new recipes. My favorite recipe is the "kinder bueno cheesecake" but I also really like to make the gingerbread men at Christmas time and decorate them.
Escape rooms On a regular basis my friends and I try a new escape room for a great experience of solving puzzles and working together. So far, we have always managed to escape within the hour.
That's it for now and I'm looking forward to share my posts with you.
All the best!
Cynthia
Welcome what side of our city do you enjoy the most?
Thank you :)! I really love the view from the Euromast. Soon I will move to Blijdorp so that will be my new favorite part I think. What about you?
2 years ago I was lucky enough to find and apartment next to Kralingse Bos with a lovely view of the swan and the city skyline included I love being home for the view and the ability to just walk into the forest when ever I feel like it. And still living in a calm neighbourhood well living in the city. But I like spending time on the southside of the city near Maashaven and Zuidplein places have been important to me when I was a student. I spend a lot of free time there. But spending time along the water is really calming. Its just hard to pick a favourite place.
So you're really lucky to find a place near Kralingse Bos :) Rotterdam has a lot of nice places lucky us!
@cynthiaeps Welcome to Steemit! I am happy to meet a fellow runner.
I did half marathon a couple of times, and if you'd like, I'd love to help you train for it
and finish it strong. I've helped a few friends to finish 10K and half marathons :)
Anyhow, welcome to the community and I look forward to your posts!
Thank you :) That's a really nice offer! I've started a (hopefully realistic) trainingsschedule for the half marathon, but tips are more than welcome. Have you planned a next run already?
Hi @cynthiaeps, sorry for long delay. I just figured out how to see all the comments on what I wrote :P how is your training schedule looking like? I could share some tips based on that, maybe :) one thing I want to ask is are you doing any strength workout, be it weight lifting or free-weight body workouts? Runners tend to forget importance of these workouts, and end up losing bone density, muscle strength, and get injured easily. My next run/race will be a 10K in March.. when is your half marathon?
Hi! No worries! It took me a while to figure it out as well. I do bootcamp once a week which I use as an intervall training. And I do a "short" run 5-8 km during weekdays and try to do a longer run in the weekends. Last Sunday I ran 15km and next Sunday I will try to run 16km or so. But I fell of my bike yesterday so I hope my knees are feeling better on Sunday. It is the 11th of March.
Rotterdam and Ha long bay (?). Great places.
Welcome to steemit!
I agree :)
Hi @cynthiaeps! Welcome to Steemit. Looking forward to your travel blogs here in Steemit. I’m planning to visit Vietnam someday. How was your trip?
So you’re a health care worker as well? I’m a nurse in public health. How about you?
I’m sure you’ll enjoy this platform. Just keep posting quality contents. Steem on 🤗💚
Hi! Thank you. My Vietnam trip was great! Did a trip from north to south and can recommend a hiking trip in Sapa, a boattrip in Ha Long Bay, spent some time in Hoi An and book a trip with the easy riders. Nurse in public health sounds like a wonderfull job :) I am a medical doctor specialising in internal medicine, love it! Steem on :)
Welcome on board! :D
Thanks :)!
Welcome to Steemit! ;)
Thanks :)!
Welcome, I'm new too! And a runner. Good luck with your half marathon training.
Thanks! What will be your next run?
I'm looking to try some track racing this summer - Mile, 1500m and maybe even 800m. Want to see what I'm capable of over the short distances after a few years of long distance training. Should be fun!
New challenges are always fun :)!
