Dazed Confused
Somewhere in the last 29 years of my life, I went from the young ignorant kid to the character played by Matthew M. in Dazed Confused. haha
On a more serious note, I grew up moving around a lot. By the time I was finishing high school I had lived in 8 different homes across the country.
This diverse experience of growing up across many different parts of the country helped me to appreciate different lifestyles. It also showed me the stark difference a community can present to the world.
As we look into the end of 2020, the differences between communities seem to be fueling more fear and anguish than the celebration of diversity. That's disappointing but don't let me digress too much here! ha I want to keep this post light and fun!
Midwest Roots & Coming of Age
I spent the majority of my childhood in the midwest. Also, eventually going to College at the University of Kansas.
Going to school in the midwest helped me become a bit more well-rounded form my liberal start.
After my time in college, I love the saying > A liberal is just a conservative in disguise who hasn't been mugged yet.
It's a bit cheeky but certainly true!
My time at the University of Kansas studying political science truly did help shape who I am today. The midwest does a wonderful job of instilling a strong work ethic into you.
The folks in the midwest are generally good people. As in any community, there are both good and bad actors. I found though that more often than note, the midwest has good people looking to make an honest living.
That being said, the midwest was a bit too conservative for me. The religious influence there seems to be, not my cup of tea. While spiritual, I find organized religion to be a bit too hypocritical and overconfident to be apart of it myself. (Though I do see the value of it for society, could talk about this for a long time while not being a follower myself)
KU NORML
Thinking about my time at the University of Kansas for a moment, I have to share my love for politics.
Much to this may be from my time moving around the country and seeing politics as a steadfast way to stay connected to a larger picture while constantly being the new kid at school with few to no acquaintances (at least at first, I always ended up making amazing friends in literally every state I lived in) but that takes time. Relationships take time to build and bloom.
While at the university I also had the pleasure of helping with the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws at the University of Kansas.
We did some great things with that organization and were able to connect with some wonderful people. Although, little changed with regards to cannabis law- even a decade after the starting of KU NORML. That said, it showed me the importance to follow your passion and spend your days doing things you love.
Manifest Destiny
After my time in Kansas, I knew that I wanted to head west. The mountains were calling me and the legalization of cannabis in Colorado made it a perfect spot for me. Nearly 7 years later, I'm still here and I certainly love it.
Today I work in digital marketing (with a focus on SEO), while living in Denver with my dog. I am lucky enough to call this great place home and plan to spend the rest of my life here- albeit as much of it as I can and certainly never leaving to far away from the lovely mountains.

For the couple of images I pulled above from Google search, they probably need to be sourced eh? Should I add them in now or is it poor etiquette to edit posts?
Sources, https://www.texasmonthly.com/the-culture/as-dazed-and-confused-gets-older-the-spirit-of-the-film-stays-the-same/ & - & https://www.pinterest.com/pin/421227371402342086/
No, actually, you are much better off to edit, you can edit any time you want to, it is not an etiquette thing, it is the correct thing if your images are not sourced correctly. If you can, link directly to them and normally from now on I would recommend that you use Pixabay.com or Pexel.com or Unsplash.com, there are more royalty-free sites as well, but Pixabay is my go to, just for info.
Google, Bing, Pinterest, and those sites are image finding sites, they are not the owners or holders of the photos, the object is to see if we can find the actual artist to mention if possible.
