Welcome to My World

When a fantasy author invites you into her world, there is no telling what may happen. My world may be full of dangers and magic. Or it may be mundane with my everyday happenings. I will say I that I will try to always have something to say…quality over quantity. My name is Lottie Mae Hancock. I am a 48 year old mom of 6 and grandmother of an army.

I lost my husband of 25 years back in 2010 and eventually found love again with my fiance, Perry. My family is everything to me. I live in Central Texas near Ft. Hood. I grew up on the same land that I live on now. The town I am in is a Czech community. The founders of Seaton and Zabcikville came here back in the mid 1800’s and their families have been here ever since. I am proud of my Czech heritage and share that love with my children. I am also Scottish and Native American. My mother wanted to make sure I understood my Choctaw and Cherokee roots while my step-father, who was also Czech, helped me learn about my Czechoslovakian background.

My late husband, David, was a major part of my life. Well, that is an understatement. He taught me the importance of being myself. He was an amazing father and teacher.

He is actually the one that gave birth to my first novel, Balance on the Terra. He and I would improv scenes from a fantasy world that we had created. At the time, I didn't think of writing a book. We just had fun with it. We wouldn't say, OK lets do this. We would do it at random and that is what made it fun. I remember when he came into the kitchen one day and had a sad look about him. I asked what was wrong, and he said, “The council meeting didn't go as I had hoped.” <cue in Lottie> “They aren’t letting the orcs in the council are they?” “They said it was best to keep the peace.” And we would go about our day. Sound crazy? Yea, but we had a system.

After he passed, I didn't do a lot of world building. Didn’t do a lot of anything. A few months after meeting, Perry suggested writing the scenes down. I hadn’t thought of writing a book but after some thought, I got on it. Such the birth of Balance on the Terra.

I love writing fantasy, but I have a love for cooking that I never realized I had until the last couple of years. I wrote a cookbook with my favorite homemade mixes and published that last year. I have a fantasy novel at the editor’s desk now and have a couple of others on the table, so I keep pretty busy. I also have another cookbook featuring crock-pot freezer meals that I hope to have out before Thanksgiving.

I am also a blogger. I have a blog with everything that has to do with the home. It is called The Pink Executive. Of course, we are the executives and C.E.O.’s of our homes. I like to recognize that. I post recipes and household hacks that I hope make life a little better. We all need to work smarter, not harder. My other blog is all about writing. It is The Writer’s Block found at The Write Time. I present book reviews, author spotlights and writing tips. Lately, I have been posting short stories. I must admit that short stories are new to me, but I want to share what I am to everyone. This gives a piece of me every time someone reads it.

Oh, and I love old school MMORPG's. In other words, major gamer. Lately it has been centered around just Everquest (yes, it is still going strong) and Minecraft. That doesn't sound like major gaming, I know, but  sometimes it is just hard to pull away from the world of Everquest when I need to. lol. Call it an addiction, I call it a life. A digital life but a life, nonetheless.

I have been dabbling in cryptocurrency over the past year. I had kept it at just Bitcoin but recently discovered Steem and the concept behind Steemit was like a web that drew me in and snagged me. I have been on Facebook for years, but never felt comfortable about just letting loose and speaking my mind. With Steemit, my posts can have substance. That is a major plus for me. I look forward to reading other posts and learning from everyone. Keep me in mind and follow as I follow right back. Thanks.
