Here’s me...

in #introduceyourself6 years ago

Well Steemit, you got me...I’m here and I’m raring to go. Just need to figure it all out...one step at a time.

I’ve had my account for a while and I’ve been reading various articles and posts. I’ve managed to sign myself up for Steem Monsters...really keen to see where that goes, even if I don’t fully understand it yet.

So, about me...

I’m a mummy…
...to my 3 babies…
DS1 8 years old My first born, my sensitive, energetic child that keeps me on my toes and teaches me every day about how I can be a better parent. A constant reminder of how tough this shit is…more about him in future posts.
DD1 5 years old A sweet, bright little gem, a firecracker at times, but absolutely the most gentle of souls and simply wanting to please everyone. She’s the one that reminds me of me.
DS2 3 years old Our surprise baby, that completes our family dynamic. He makes us laugh when times are tough. He is enigmatic and with no effort at all, charms everyone he meets.

I’m a wife…
...hubby and I met in England. Originally from South Africa, he was living and working there. We met, fell in love...and the rest is history as they say. I always knew DH wanted to move back to SA, he is a surfer after all and the calling was too strong to keep him away for much longer...and the weather played a role too. He convinced me to move to Cape Town not long into our relationship...so after I made a whirlwind visit to the town I would soon call home, we jumped right in and bought a house in 2009 and planned to emigrate that same year...but plans were put on hold for a year, as we were blessed with our first baby, and being a home bird, I needed to be close to my family for the birth of my first child. When he was 5 months old, we were off to start our next adventure into the unknown.

I’m a sister…
...to my 2 younger sisters...each with their own families...4 nephews by one sister and 3 nieces by my other sister. I miss them all and can’t help but be jealous of our family they still have physically surrounding them. Their children are very different ages, my one nephew has his own daughter now, and my youngest niece is a toddler...her and one of her older sisters I’ve never met in the flesh...it breaks my heart, I just want to cuddle them and smell them and shower them with love...but for now, Skype will have to do.

I’m a daughter…
...to my mum and dad...they are my constant, my rock, my sounding board, my support network, my friends, my role models. I miss them every day...being so far away from them is much harder than I ever thought it would be. My mum always told me her worst fear was that one of her daughters would emigrate...so, that’ll be me then. I’m very fortunate that they manage to come and see us once a year. My kids adore their nana and grandad...it’s plain to see....they are very hands on and love them unconditionally. If it wasn’t for Skype and whatsapp, I would not still be in Cape Town.

I’m a granddaughter…
...my last living grandparent passed away in April this year. My grandmother was the life and soul of every family gathering. She was the very heart of our family...when I close my eyes and think of them, I can physically feel how my roots are connected to each of my 4 grandparents...I remember smells and memories come flooding back. I have many many fond memories of a loving, fun, caring, supportive and solid family unit...for all of this, I am eternally grateful.

I’m a cousin…
…to my 4 cousins...they were my first friends, my first social experiences, many amazing memories were made growing up with that beautiful bunch I love calling my family...and many dance routines! We were and still are, very close and even as we’ve all grown older, all with our own children, we have effortlessly maintained our close relationship. We have our own WhatsApp group where we share memories and pictures and snippets of our daily lives. It’s simply perfect.

I’m a friend…
...one thing I miss far more than I ever expected is my friends back home. Those people who knew me before I had babies...who know me as I am, rather than someone’s mum. Don’t get me wrong, I have met some fabulous friends since moving here...I wouldn’t change them for the world...but I have a few friends I’ve known for 30 years...I can’t help but miss that part of the life I once had.

Lastly...I’m a wannabe knitter, a wannabe crocheter, a wannabe writer, a wannabe blogger, a Facebooker, a crafter...I like listening to music, dancing, researching and watching tv...I’m a gamer (mostly pre kids) and I have an interest in all things spiritual and other worldly...and I love Le Creuset to pretty up my kitchen!

Hello mamaof3! Welcome to Steemit! Hope you'll like the community here. As a start, here are 5 tips that we believe will be helpful to you:

  1. Keep your passwords safe: Unlike conventional sites, Steemit has 4 types of passwords. Each offers varying degrees of access to your account, so know where and when to use each of them. Also, make sure to keep them all safe and secure.
  2. Get Steem rewards: When writing a post, you'll have the option to choose how to receive your reward: "Default 50%/50%" or "Power Up 100%". As of this moment, choosing Default 50%/50% is the better option. But this can change over time. Check our post to know more.
  3. Upvote wisely: When upvoting, wait at least 30 minutes after the post is published to maximize your curation reward. Also, make sure not to upvote too much too fast so as not to drain your voting power.
  4. Know your Steem, Steem Dollars and Steem Power: Steem and Steem Dollars are the 2 main currencies here. Convert and power up more Steem into Steem Power so you can have higher values on your upvotes.
  5. Have Fun and Enjoy!
