As far as I'm aware, steemit.com won't be hosting video content, which is why we still have to embed from YouTube and should also be able to embed from others like twitch or bitchute. There are other applications being built on the steem blockchain though - steemq is one - and it is supposed to be video hosting.
For a moment I thought you meant steem(it) were building it. But steemit is different from steem as steemit is just one of many applications to the steem blockchain.

Ok yes, my apologies...steemQ is what I was thinking. THANKS for the correction. But I'm excited about it all. I'd like to eventually dump Youtube.
A potential alternative could be bitchute as they are decentralised and censorship resistant. There have been talks of them integrating with steem.
