Steemit Is A Game Changer And Here's Why

in #introduceyourself8 years ago (edited)

This video explains how steemit is paving the way for a new revolutionary social media network to empower content creators!

Steemit is an open-source, community-based website that pays you for interacting with it.

By voting or liking posts, posting original content and, well basically, doing what you already do on sites like Facebook or Reddit...where they make all the money through ad revenues based on content you're uploading...here at steemit you can earn money...so instead of advertising revenue going into the hands of corporate shareholders, content creators get what's called Steem, Steem power and Steem dollars. In this video Dan Dicks of Press For Truth breaks it down and explains how the technology behind steemit could be a major game changer for how social media sites operate.

Join me on my mission and let's do this!

Sort:

The money is nice for established Whales like Dan but for most like myself, Just being able to comment without censorship is awesome! I only use Steemit now!

I agree! I am slowly making the transition to only using steemit.

I've been using YouTube for so long that I thought it would be a hard transitions but very happy to say it wasn't hard at all for me! I only go back now to grab some of my footage and that is it... cya around and Cheers

Thanks @pressfortruth You explained this in a way that made absolute sense to me, and I totally get it now. Reminds me of how we trade candy for 'hot' stories and such like back in the school playground, basically 'cryto-currency' 101.

Nice video Dan! Looking forward to more of your posts.

Yes, great video and insight one the working of steemit. You are certainly a quick learner and researcher.

looking what will become of steemit

Yup FB sucks. Awesome facts about Blockchain . Nice to meet you here @pressfortruth . @steemlinks was here and upvoted this post.

cool video... just signed up a couple of days ago..... looks like your doing good now.. followed you..

Agreed. Facebook sucks! They killed fair content discovery. FB has basically become an oversized instant messenger app. I knew something better would come eventually. Steem changes everything! It solves many of the complaints people have with Facebook, Reddit and, lately, Twitter as well.

Yeah agree. Facebook has been tweaking the algorithms way too much.

So true- like tit or dislike it, the popular bitcoing is here. True the blockchain really does chnage the power of the cryptocurrency.
Never thought about the fact that we have a black out- no money.
The video is great as well as the article.
I love this support of steemit. we can make the money, and not the corporate.
Hope to have the same success. Cant wait to transfer money from a post. Thanks for sharing. Great info, and inspiring.

It is the steem cryptocurrency which makes this platform different to TSU (rip) or 3 tags. However, it is still working on the same premise...i.e. getting paid for your content (which I totally agree with by the way...who wouldn't?).

For marketers/businesses FB is still the platform of choice as the advertising can have a huge reach and is measurable. Will be interesting to see how Steemit tackle this.
For example, you are a small biz and want to get more reach...at the moment paying for FB ads makes sense in some circumstances. Compare that with writing a post on Steemit which in all likelihood will get buried initially...regardless of how great a content marketer you are.

What's more, FB have groups which is another powerful tool.

Will be interesting to see how this develops...

Awesome video Dan Thanks!

love this website, thank you for sharing it!

This is going to be an epic ride Dan. I have been let down so many times with social media that I have grown jaded but I still am optimistic about a blockchain platform. Whether it is Steemit or Synereo someone is going to figure it out.

Super pumped about this migration, every day I'm checking in to see whats new.

Just seen your vid on the screwtube and came over nice job m8

Thank you Dan @pressfortruth,
Several 'good news' items seem to be popping up this week in the alternative news area and this is one more for the Gipper, so to speak.

Great vid. Following. Hope u like my stuff too.

Great post Dan, and i am just excited as you about this. Especially for great content creators like yourself.

I cannot but totally agree with you. But it needs our efforts to push it to the top.

Thanks, I will try to get the best from this opportunity.

Dan I love your work. I've been following you and Luke since the beginning :)

At the end of your video you mention the issue of downvotes and you say that it's some sort of a problem because sometimes users "get their money taken away by whales" and this might a form of censorship.

I propose to look at it this way: the process of curation is not really about rewarding content creators. Instead, it's more about finding the right price for the content delivered. So it's OK that this process involves both upvotes and downvotes - this way we discover the price the community is willing to pay. It's like buying and selling pressure that sets the price of a commodity.

However, we do have an issue with the UI. In order to downvote a post, currently you need to use the flag which is not really meant for this purpose (flag is meant to indicate spam or abuse). I hope the devs will soon sort it out, as this issue has already caused a lot of confusion.

Indeed, steemit is a game changer and Im trying my best to convince people around me to join steemit community. But sometimes it requires a proof to convince a person, so I'm trying my best here so that in the next few days, weeks or months I can show them a convincing rewards.

Great video explaining what is going on with Steemit, still learning how this site works, maybe you should make a video on that, how to vote, ect ect

Very Cool....And you're doing the right thing Dan :)

Yes!!!!

I like your delivery

I only got accepted to the Steemit world last night. But while I was sat in the Steemit waiting room, I found you 'game changing' video on YouTube.
Great video thank you :)
Followed.
