ME INTO YOUR WORLD | MY INTROBLOG

in #introduceyourself2 months ago

Hi, Hive! I’m Ruth!

From the land of the most valuable baranggay in Borbon, Cebu, Philippines - Brgy. Bili! As I have heard, Bili is an ancient tree which was considered by our ancestors as most valuable tree because of its usefulness during their time. (I still have to trace the history why on my next blog). This is the home place of my father’s parents where I usually spent my summer vacation during my younger years. I grew up in Cebu City where my parents reside.

Bili has become my wondrous place for this is where I found the man I valued the most in my life, my husband.

Joining in this wonderful community is exciting! When I first heard about Hive from one of my close friend and a workmate (that’s how I treated her… I don’t know if she’s aware :) I was not hesitant to ask questions that were pestering in my mind because it was that moment when the word “SCAM" played in my head. Until such time when this close friend of mine shared how happy she was to be part of this wonderful community of writers and bloggers while showing proof of legitimacy of Hive.

Aside from earning passively (I will not be a hypocrite, that’s why I’m here though I’m not a good writer), this is also a good avenue for people who wants to share their stories and speak out their thoughts through blogging. A channel where you can express yourself freely with no hesitation.

MY VALUED PROFESSION

Messenger_creation_f60f601e-3fdc-4b17-ae02-b161c4b12a19.jpeg

I am a public school teacher for more than a decade now. I came from a family of educators. I am proud that I belong to one of the notable profession that molds character and shapes the future of the young minds. To be a teacher was once a dream and I made it into reality through perseverance and determination that has been tested by time .I was able to withstand the battles of life by being persistent towards the fulfillment of my ambition of being a teacher.

Looking back to my younger years, I used to gather my younger siblings and act as their little teacher in my early school age. I read short stories to them it’s as if I am familiar with the story read. I sometimes grabbed books from my uncle (who was in college back then) and read it aloud in front of my siblings asking them to imitate my pronunciation without taking into consideration the correct articulation of the words read. I could still remember a time in my grade 1 when my mother interrupted me in the middle of my reading at home and corrected me for my pronunciation of the word “tongue” because I read it as “tongyu” (isn’t it funny?...shame on me).

It was in my high school years when my strong desire to become a teacher much ignited. I was greatly influenced by my English teacher in second year who was my favorite teacher too. I loved the way she articulate with lips moving to and fro. I really enjoyed watching her mouth when speaking and I imitated her in whisper.

MY FORTUNE

IMG_20220727_093241_27.jpg

I thank God for giving me the chance to conceive these six lovely children with just eight months as their gap and one year for the other three (Do, Re, Mi, Fa, So, La …so to speak). Conceiving them without hassle and a feeling of discomfort (just like any mother had experienced during the first trimester in their pregnancy) and delivering them safely in just a wink of an eye (it’s like I’m having my time in the toilet and then booom! comes out!) is indeed the best and the most fulfilling experience that I am grateful for as a woman.

Honestly, raising them is not that easy especially that I am a working mom. I have to balance my time and see to it that the time spared for them is worth one’s salt. As a mother, it is but right to give the best that we can for our kids not failing to remember what’s appropriate for them. Watching them as they grow into a God-fearing and responsible individual in coping with the insurmountable circumstances in life is never a fantasy.

Being the first teacher and a passionate mother to my six adorable children is the hardest yet the most fulfilling thing that I have done making sure that the process of teaching them the morale in life and guiding them towards the right path that they are about to take is continuous.

With God’s grace and guidance, they grow up the way I want them to be. And with that, I would say that my children is worth a fortune.

CURING my ENNUI

I am not a traveler, I’m a home buddy instead. I love to do “kuri kuri and kuting kuting” at home just like any other typical housewife did. I am fond of arranging and moving furniture into different positions every week giving my husband a hard time finding his own mess.

I also found pleasure being a “plantita” (making our house inside a mini-forest) especially during pandemic when everyone is precluded to go out from their shelter. It was also during the pandemic when my passion in baking rekindled.

Showing you some of my crafts in baking.

Aside from my children’s pleasure to eat cakes and sweets it has also become my other source of income. My children became my taste-testers and with the approval of their taste buds I started to receive orders which really help my finances and most importantly it became an antidote of my boredom during pandemic (Was it the income? Or the baking itself that cures the boredom?.......well, it’s both!)

This antidote continued until the normal classes began. It was then that I have to decide and set my priority .Thinking that I cannot hit two birds with one stone, I chose to focus on the job that has been my primary source of income. Even if it’s so tiring and stressful, for aside from our main function, we are loaded with ancillaries and bombarded with so many urgent reports but still I love my profession. I cannot deny the fact that this profession regularly puts foods on our table.

Who brought me to Hive?

Hive was being introduced first to my daughter @higeeyuh by her English teacher who happens to be my workmate and a close friend, Ma'am @netswriting.

My daughter is also a member of this amazing and growing community of writers. Realizing that Hive has served its purpose as an access for people who wanted to connect from other corners of the world through writing, I have settled my desire to join in this extremely awesome community.
