Life of Ting Jepe: An Introblog

Hello Hivers!

Call me Ting Jepe. This is the pseudonym I will be using in this platform. I’m a teacher for almost eleven years now, a father and a husband. I’m 33 years and counting living on this planet. I live in Queen City of the South specifically San Jose, Borbon, Cebu. I would say it’s been a while since I created a piece outside of my work area. I think it’s now the absolute time to explore the other verse of me. First let me share some pieces of me.

I am a Teacher

Public teaching for me is a call of duty. It’s tiresome and very stressful. But if you have the drive, you can get through the day. My first years of teaching was a bit of experiences. I’m off to a site where as they say “Piso nalang plete padong langit” which means it’s a place of great distance from the usual school site you know. It’s called Saling-it Primary School at that time and from the name itself you could tell how far it was. I was a multi grade teacher in there handling two grade levels on regular basis and sometimes four when the other teacher is not around.

However I had a great time during those years. My sacrifices and sleepless nights were nothing because totally I enjoyed the experiences I had. The school community was very warm to the point that the people didn’t want me to transfer to another school.

It had become one of my downsides since I really loved the place apart from the pressure and weight of my job in facilitating those innocent, vibrant, wild and amazing kids. To move to other school would be hard for me since I would be adjusting to a whole new different environment.

But I knew at the back of my mind someday I would need to transfer. I had also questions about my work, its complexity and vision. “Is this really where I’m meant to be?”, was the words that kept repeating on my mind and I thought back then I dreamed of becoming a servant of God. Due to this, I asked for a sign from Him.

Since I already experienced lost in love, I reflected that maybe priesthood was my path. Then one night at the carnival the sign was given and in that time, moments were frozen when I found her.

I knew I would loved her before I met her. Up until now she would not believe this story every time I tell her about this. And so I said, I was not meant to be in priesthood after all. My line is not perpendicular to living in a convent and preaching people the words of God.

I am a Husband and a Father

Way back 2016 I married the love of my life. I continued my professional job as a teacher. My first born child was a beautiful creature. Sometimes I would bring her to school particularly closing programs and Christmas party.

Year 2017 my wife applied as a public school teacher the same way I am. Then a year later she was hired as a secondary school teacher and we already had our second child. I filed a transfer immediately to another school nearer to the location of my wife’s school site. I knew that it would happen. Thanks to Almighty it was granted right away. I became a grade five teacher at Bongdo Elementary School, a big school, different from the multi grade setting.

Lots of adjustments I had made for the family. We really were grateful during those times. My life has really turned differently. I understood clearer now the meaning of my job since I became a parent. Currently, we have three kids.

I am into Music, Reading, Writing, and Movies

Music is a soul of my life. Great times or downtimes it plays a major role. It is my bestie and my companion, my tool in my job and my lullaby at nights. It is the reason why I love writing poems at first then later on any literary works.

Writing poems also is my past time. I already wrote several of it mostly in free verse. Only few were in closed type. Most of which are based on my life experiences. I wrote also short essays at some instances and eventually lost or threw them away.

I also love reading and watching documentaries and movies, history and sometimes short stories. They are my past time work when I don’t want to compose a poem or essays. I also follow certain pages in Facebook and read many stories on those pages.

I am a Hiver

Part of me says share what I have in a way of writing. This is the reason why I joined in this field of expression. I think I might give an inspiration, hope and encouragement to others through my own writings. Through it I hope I can influence others based on my views and aspirations and be able to show compassion and love for reading and writing.

I hope Hive will be able to give me satisfaction doing my thing as a writer and probably return good responses. Nothing can be compared when you’re satisfied and paid for what you’ve done. It’s what I expected of in this endeavor.

I am a Colleague

These shareable data of myself exposed in this writing are not made possible if not for the presence of my wife’s colleague Mam @netswriting who shared her pretty experiences with Hive. I was not directly being told by her. It was my wife who shared to me and she convinced me to join long time ago. Funny it is, but I was being told last year and it sink into my thoughts just now. But I am really delightful to hear her words about this platform. I personally asked Mam on how to join and she positively responded “Wait for a Hive orientation Sir!”. Perhaps now is really the time to awaken some madness inside of me. It’s like a freedom wall for me.
