Introduction Post

When I was a child my Nana would sit me and my brother and sisters down at the dinner table. She would lay out rolls of pennies that she got from the bank and tell us we were to go through them and find ones we didn’t have. She gave us all those blue Whitman folder books with the dates and mintages of Lincoln Cents, and our goal was to fill in the empty spots.

I’m not sure what it was, but that triggered something inside me to become a collector. I started with coins, moved to bills, and eventually to precious metals. While most of those coins I collected as a kid are gone, I saved this 1909 VDB Nana gave me during one of our trips. I keep this penny on my desk as a constant reminder of her, and where all of this began.

My current passion in collecting is Pre-33 Gold coins. I've only been collecting them for a year or so and have a pretty decent collection. My goal is quality, not quantity so it’s fairly small since quality and rare coins are expensive.

My plan for this Steemit is to showcase pieces from my collection and coins from my friend's collections that share the same hobby. I will try to put together a little bit of history behind each coin or some perspective of what was going on during the year the coin was minted.

I certainly hope to be an active member on here and post often. I am excited to share with you all and to see where this community takes me.

Ian

You are very welcome here, on #steemsilvergold community. You will find here from coin collectors (me and a few ones) to silver and gold stackers (another few ones) with the majority between the two poles.
Let me give you one advice: post your articles from steemleo.com and use the tag #steemleo. That will give you an upvote from steemleo, just for posting there, and the chance to be upvoted also, receiving LEO, their token, that can be stacked or sold for steem at Steem Engine.
Second and last advice: stack the LEOs. I see a great future in it.
I write two daily articles about my coin collection, one in English and the other in Portuguese. I hope to see you visiting my posts. It will be an honor.

Awesome!!! Thanks for the advice. I'm new to all this so I'll have to look into steemleo.
