Hive's Newbie and Your Strong-willed buddy! : An Introduction.

Hi Hive! It's me John, born in a wonderful place somewhere in North Cebu, I'm 21 years old. A strong-willed student and persistent in my study without any financial support from my family. Right now, I stand as the breadwinner in the family because my father is having his medication due to high blood pressure while my mother died a decade ago.

Yes, Life is hard, but I found joy and courage in holding on to my dreams. I am currently studying at Cebu Technological University, Carmen Campus, taking up a Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering. I am very positive in dreaming big and setting goals for myself. There are many things I would like to achieve and do systematically in life, it includes taking care of my father and giving him all that he wants and also helping others when the time will come.

Way back when my mother died, our life started to be miserable the home doesn’t feel like home anymore without her. Since my mother died, I and my father had to work hard to earn money for us to have food on the table, I work on weekends and studied on weekdays. At an early age, I've been experiencing a lot of work. It's been so hard for me but it didn't stop me from doing things that I know would help us to get money.Now I am a 3rd-year college with somehow a little knowledge about my course especially making strategies on how to fix the engine and basic tools to use, because, I was in my first year in college when Covid19 hit all over the world. It was a very unforgettable occurrence and the hardest battle we had to face during that time. As a poor ones, we sacrificed, we made salt as our viand. Now I am studying online classes since the government doesn’t allow us students to fully go to school for the face to face classes.

It was very hard for me for the reason that I didn’t know where I could find some work to provide for my school's related projects. But then, God never fails me, I found a job (I’d say not an easy one) but at least I can support my family and my Education. Now I'm here sharing how I’ve worked hard and acted the script of my life that was created and given by God. I know all of my sacrifices, and hard work will always have a bright future.

My passion and hobbies in life.

My hobbies are singing, dancing, hiking, and playing sports like boxing and basketball. These are the things that I do when I am bored or I want to make myself healthy. By doing things that I like, it feels like I am being relieved. My hobbies are my escape from the real world which makes me forget my worries, and it is very useful for my well-being because through doing these things I overcome stress and depression.

Singing: My two siblings are very gifted because they have nicer voices than me, but even if I am not good as them I still have the guts to sing because through singing I can express my emotions and feel better. I usually sing on fiesta, a birthday, and if I'm bored.

Dancing: During my high school days I am very active in every school activity. I know there were always competitions like singing and dancing. That time I prefer to dance more than sing. I enjoy how the crowd was impressed by my moves every time I perform. When I was in grade 12 it was my last dance in our school, me and my classmates and also our trainer planned a unique dance presentation. We combined modern and folk dance, and also insert drama into our presentation. I danced for almost 13 minutes because, in every scene of our dance presentation, I always have a role. I enjoyed that time because I know I was able to leave a mark on the audience which is to leave a smile on their faces.

Hiking: Hiking is one of the best things I love to do. It helps me escape from negativity and it gives me peace of mind. It is so satisfying to see how beautiful the world is. Through hiking, it is my way of giving myself a break. I remembered my last hike it was required for our Physical Education activity. I enjoyed it a lot and it was all worth it, after reaching the top of the mountain I realized how beautiful the world we have. It was indeed such a blessing from above.

Boxing & basketball: Playing those sports is one that I excel in most. I had been playing boxing before and it was really fun. I was very progressive, it was indeed my passion. I won my first competition but I gave up my sport because I have to focus on my main goal.

Basketball will always be my comfort zone, it saves me from loneliness. It serves as my exercise. I play basketball with my Highschool best friends.

Now, here I am writing the story of my life and how I survive it, motivating those people who sacrifice and work so hard just to survive in this world even if it’s full of hardships. I am here not just to share my journey and struggle, but I am here to motivate myself, and to gain more knowledge through the Hive community.

First I don't know how is this will work but I am so thankful for @callmesmile that she gave me this information about how beautiful and nice to be here. It is indeed a great privilege to be part of the hive community, for the reason that I know I can gain, improve and develop myself in writing and most importantly motivate others. I know with God all my hard work and sacrifices will be worth the wait.
