i am darker than the darkhorse, you don’t see me coming but I always win. I take one step at a time and live life on my own terms.

Are you intrigued yet?

When I first read this self-description, I sure was.

What could it mean? I thought. Was it a reference to a movie that I didn’t know? Was it a portion of a song’s lyrics, perhaps the chorus? I didn’t have any idea, but I was very curious to know more.

This is @darkerhorse, an intriguing Steemian and a person who describes himself as an underdog of underdogs. You see, that’s what a darkhorse is. It’s a horse racing term for an underdog, a race horse that nobody thinks has a chance to win, yet, despite all odds, crosses the finish line first. Being darker than the darkhorse is a reference to the idea of being viewed and thought of as having less of chance at success than even those who are the least likely to succeed.

By being darker than the darkhorse, @darkerhorse is saying that he is, or often has been, more overlooked and more underestimated than those who are already thought to have very few chances at being successful in life. However, this disadvantage has never stopped him from overcoming everyone’s expectations and becoming successful.

Working as a marketer in Nigeria, @darkerhorse played a role in starting the Nigerian Steemit community Steemit UYO/Calabar with @samstickkz. Though he is not currently very active in the group, he plans to get more involved again in the future when his other obligations lessen.

Aside from working as a marketer, @darkerhorse is using blogging, commenting, and resteeming content on Steemit as a way to sharpen his mind and his writing skills, and also as a way to supplement his income. As he states in a recent post, with the price of Steem and SBD being so high recently, the rewards on Steemit can go a long toward supplementing and even surpassing one’s income in a developing country.

Please take the time to drop by @darkerhorse’s posts. You will find quite a few amusing crypto-based memes, predictions for and articles about Steemit, and also a number of interesting posts about Africa that @darkerhorse has resteemed.

Congratulations @darkerhorse

That would be funny if there were two, wouldn’t it? It’s such an unusual name, what would the chances be?
