Steemit-Uyo Poetry Contest —A Mother #MyEntry

in #ita-poetry6 years ago (edited)

Suffragetta called you
they who commanded,
when you descend in the square
to fight for what you believed.
It was the dignity you were looking for,
but only obstacles did you find.

It was the spring of the forty-six
When in Italy, she too voted!
Rights were obtained
but not all recognized,
In the elections you could vote
but "submissive" you had to stay.

So many violence you suffered,
So many caresses you did not like,
so many jobs you did not have,
doors in your face beat you up
and for the equivalent salary,
they just thought about it.

In some states you are estimated,
In other countries despised.
Your skirt is torn
from that old-fashioned mass.
You faithful to love then stay
to those beasts that raise your hands.

Now it's time for change
We do not want a torment anymore
to the woman who has grown up
and as such it must be recognized
Force women for March 8th
Together with you I get up.

A kiss and a hug to all mothers
