In a turn of events, Ecuador has denied reports that they were planning to revoke Julian Assange's asylum at the Ecuadorian embassy in London, where he has been since 2012.

Initial insider sources reported through WikiLeaks said that Assange's fate of being expelled from the embassy was to be decided executed in a matter of "hours or days". But now, according to Bloomberg, Ecuador is denying having planned the expulsion of Assange.
But many are skeptical of this denial. And rightfully so,since governments lie all the time, just as the U.S. had denied any charges existed to arrest Assange, even though we all knew they did exist. The statements from Ecuador that they aren't going to expel Assange are likely due to a change of course from mounting pressure, forcing them to back down.
The largest pressure to be applied seems to be from the UN. The UN Special Procedures twitter account tweeted about the plans to expel Assange from the Ecuadorian embassy, with the expert on torture Nils Melzer saying he intended to investigate the case:
UN expert on torture @NilsMelzer expresses alarm at reports #WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange may be expelled imminently from #EcuadorianEmbassy in London, saying he intends to personally investigate case.

The UN Special Rapporteur on torture Nils Melzer pointed ot how a termination of the asylum would result in "violations of [Assanges] human rights":
In my assessment, if Mr. Assange were to be expelled from the Embassy of Ecuador, he is likely to be arrested by British authorities and extradited to the United States," he said. "Such a response could expose him to a real risk of serious violations of his human rights, including his freedom of expression, his right to a fair trial and the prohibition of cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.
I therefore urge the Government of Ecuador to abstain from expelling Mr. Assange from its Embassy in London, or from otherwise ceasing or suspending his political asylum until such time as the full protection of his human rights can be guaranteed.
This is quite the about face ofr Ecuador, considering the Foreign Minister of Ecuador previously tweeted about mechanism to revoke Assange's asylum. Snowden tweeted about it yesterday:
Why do you suppose the Foreign Minister of Ecuador would choose today of all days to start tweeting about mechanisms for unilaterally revoking asylum claims?

Cassandra Fairbanks, who recently met with Assange amidst growing tension inside the embassy last week, also tweeted about the distrust in the Ecuadorian government's recent statement:

Among the supporters were some Yellow Vests who attended a protest in front of the embassy, along with Cassandra herself who tweeted a video of the event.
If Ecuador is dropping the plan to expel Assange as they say, this is a huge win as a result of public support for Assange. Thanks to the loud voices from within WikiLeaks and supporters around the world, especially in London in front of the Ecuadorian embassy. The pressure of free speech has forced Ecuador to back down.
Thank you for your time and attention. Peace.

bullshit!
Assange crossed the lines between journalism and espionage.
Then went and abused the asylum diplomatic assylum rules to not duck political or religous persecution. But to keep his criminal ass from jail.
On top of it, he showed no respect for the people who provided them and actually then used his flim flamed protected position to act in-working as a cut out for a foreign country to use wiki-leaks as a knowing accomplice to interfere with foreign government campaigns, by doing not just partisan journalism, but actually committing crimes by pushing hyperbolic fake propaganda , indesperced with nuggets of fact. All the while not divulging that they themselves along with their sources were bad actors they were ACTIVELY coordinating to do illegal activities.
The key point is that assange physically when asked to help hack passwords for a whistle blower. He went from being an unbiased fair journalist. To crossing the line of committing crimes.
It's no different then a member of the press reporting on a war. Picking up a gun and shooting children for oneside because a warlord asks.
Good work everyone!
Why would the UN be a more legitimate authority to trust ?
Corrupt is corrupt, and the UN are top of the class.
Smoke and mirrors, methinks.
I think 'we' have zero to do with it , to be honest.(cynical ole me, yeah , I know).
'if voting made a difference it would be illegal, and all that.'
IF ( a big 'if') there has been a change of plan, it's for other reasons....
Just because something is corrupt, doesn't meant everything they do is. Otherwise, it would be obvious to everyone that they had to merit to stand on. Nor does one corrupt organization meant they aren't less corrupt than another.
...'good' can - on a small scale- happen within the system - if, however, the system was borne out of fundamentally corrupt desires ( the need to consolidate power back in the 40/50's - and planned for years before it's execution) ..then , ultimately, that will be the fruits of the endevour.
It's just a clash of power between the UN and the US. Similar with what's going on in the EU with Macron vs Merkel. One party wants World Gov't under technocratic elite, the other World Gov't under the suzeranity of their own country/deep state. The circumstances are just that in these cases both the UN (supporting Assange) and Macron (supporting hard Brexit) happen to support the right cause, albeit for all the wrong reasons.
Oh! That’s a relief!! Good work! Everyone. I was praying very hard.
Thank God!

Assange is a FSB pawn used to discredit the West and its ludicrous "democracy." It is not surprising the useful idiots in the West are clamoring for Assange's "rights" to destabilize their very society. The West lost two generations to Marxist propaganda, and soon the wheel of the revolution will crush your brittle sociopolitical matrix. Your adolescent rebellion and juvenile freedom have shackled you to the inevitable Marxist colonialism. Ecuador was likely given assurances of economic and political aid by the Slavic huns and the Oriental despots. That Ecuador was willing to abide the preference of Kremlin and Beijing over that of Washington speaks volumes of current Western decay.
