For real! Go for a hike. It's great for your health and soul!

I did just that. Last weekend the wife and I went for a nice easy two hour hike on part of the historic Kettle Valley Rail Trail.

This is an easy walk or bike ride with alternate areas for hiking.

This part of the trail is located in Naramata BC Canada. Just a short drive from Penticton BC.

The KVR was opened in 1915 to meet the mining demands of the Southern Interior of BC. Used up until 1961 and then was completely abandoned.

The KVR is an extensive trail that stretches 650 km (400 miles) long.

This trail was used by hikers and mountain bikers for years and was not maintained up until recently. It was basically used at your own risk but now is maintained and safe to use for families and everyone who would like to experience the KVR trail.

Highlights To See along The Trail

- View of Okanagan Lake

- View Of Okanagan Valley Wineries

- Rock Ovens Used By Pioneers To Cook Food

- Little Train Tunnel

Amongst the beautiful scenic views you will find numerous stops where you can sit and rest or even have some lunch etc.

Just a word of caution this is rattlesnake territory so just be careful when venturing around the trail.

Pretty much anywhere along this part of the KVR trail is perfect for taking photos. I probably snapped around 100 photos of this beautiful area.

And we made it to the tunnel!!

This is worth the hike or bike. It's amazing how this was all possible back in the day.

And some more pictures of the tunnel.

Well that was my little adventure I wanted share with all of you. I highly encourage you if you're able bodied to get out and enjoy the outdoors even if it's just a quick trip to your local park.

Take a break from the busy life and enjoy a few peaceful moments for yourself.

Wishing everyone great health and be prosperous as you can be!!

My kind of HIKE! Rocks, views, tunnels! Sign me up! Our family's goal is to go hiking more this summer. I'm glad I got here by ListNerds, would never have seen this otherwise!

My favorite as well. The amazing thing is that this is just a small part of the KVR trail. There's another area with multiple tunnels and trestles. I plan on biking that other part and will post that as well.

I would honestly just get a chair and spend an afternoon here

Yes for sure. it's a beautiful place. 😊

That hike looks glorious! And it's not forever away from me, I would love to see some of that gorgeous scenery!

And I so agree with you, hikes are most definitely good for your health and soul

Hope you both are having a fantastic weekend!

Yes I would say you have to see it. You won't be disappointed. One of my favorites for sure. 😊 Thank you we're having a great weekend!! Hope you are as well. 😊

That looks awesome @jaylatour. The best thing the parks departments have done in this country was to make trails from old railroad spurs. They are easy to hike and are always out of the way providing serene and peaceful travels.

Thank You!! I totally agree. Old railways are awesome areas to explore. 😊
