My expectations being an aunty to my little King

in #ladiesofhive2 years ago

On the 22nd of February 2021, God blessed me with the most beautiful baby boy I have ever seen in my entire life, as an aunty of course.
I am sure we all know we just entered February. Checking the date from today, it’s obvious that 22nd is almost here which is my nephew’s big day! We are all super excited as he would be turning one(1).

My nephew is not just a cute baby, he also has the name of a KING, literally, his name is ‘King-Sean’, he was named after his dad, my brother, whose name is ‘Kingsley’.
Honestly I really do not know the meaning of the name he was given, so if you ask me, na who I go ask? - (In Nigerian Pidgin Language).
Although, I can tell you confidently the meaning of his Igbo name, yes, he is from the Igbo tribe in the eastern part of Nigeria. In fact, his parents are Igbo’s also, amazing right? I know.

He was named Tochukwu meaning praise God - there is definitely a story behind that name but that’s one for another day. wink
The funny part of it all is the fact that I am yet to see my little nephew ever since he was born, I am very eager to see him and at the same time anxious to see him because I think it’s going to be an amazing mixed feeling. Just looking at his beautiful baby face, cute little eyes, fine hair and tiny little lips will send a lot of chills through my body and heart.

I believe I am going to be the best aunty to him and his favorite aunty in the whole world .
The last time I went shopping for clothes, I kept thinking of my little Angel and then decided to get him clothes too, at least for his upcoming birthday.
I walked into the mother-care( boutique for babies) with so much excitement and selected a couple of clothes consisting of trousers, shorts, shirts and little man’s jackets, purchasing them made me feel really proud. At that moment that ‘rich aunty’ vibe set in and I told myself right there and then that no matter what, I must be rich! So that I can spoil my nephew silly.

I know that a lot of people will claim that it is not my responsibility but the responsibility of his parents. That’s absolutely correct and I am not here for any argument but you are free to share your opinion down below.
For me, I was raised in a very small family and we all shared this bond between each other, that no matter where and what country we find ourselves in, we will always be there for each other and always find a way to help each other.
Therefore, I will definitely take responsibility for my nephew as much as his parents and I am certain that they will do the same for my children in the nearest future.
Now let’s go back to my expectations of being an aunt.Hhere in my country, Nigeria, being called an aunty or an uncle means you are getting older or just makes you feel old. I am here to tell you that is never the case, being an aunt is a major blessing and it’s a sign that you are aging beautifully, a lot of people never lived long enough to have this beautiful experience but look at you now.

As the latest aunty in town, I can tell you for certain that being an aunt is as wonderful as being a mother to your own child, so never let anyone tell you otherwise because you are amazing.
Trust me, I never expected to be an aunty so soon but as God would have it, it happened and right on time too. I also pray God gives me the grace to give my nephew the best childhood he could have ever imagined, Amen.
I can’t wait to experience that first look he will give me, seeing me for the first time. I want to share that special bond with him as his aunty.
Buying him gifts and making sure he never lacks money because he deserves all the wonderful things of life.

You seem very happy as an aunt! That must be a very strong bond to build with your nephew - great that you can experience it :)
