RE: LandscapePhotography – Barren Beach in Borneo, Malaysia, on a Grey, Overcast Day

The umbrella adds an enchanting juxtaposition of images. Reading your comments, I learned that you placed the umbrella there. Good idea! also good that you’re not a photojournalist in that respect. Do you know how the tree ended up there? Was there a recent Hurricane. Also, You’ve been throughout SE Asia, Nepal, India...Have you stuck to that area or have you been around the world?

I try to ensure that there's some bright accent in any photo I take. On this grey and dull day, the only bright item was the brilliant rainbow-color umbrella that I had borrowed from the guesthouse. Just a lucky coincidence. I positioned it appropriately and snapped the photo.

The beach was deserted, but there were quite a few fallen trees scattered along it. Most of them had obviously been there for a long time, such as this one. All the leaves and bark were gone, leaving just a smooth, shiny trunk and branches

I lived in India for 4 years, and in Singapore for 5 years, giving me plenty of opportunity to travel around India, a bit of South Asia, and most countries in SE Asia, some several times. I also lived in Japan, and traveled a bit in Europe, mostly just stopovers on the long trip to/from Asia.

Over the years, I found that SE Asia is a very pleasant place to travel. So, I moved to Thailand a few months back, and will settle down here for a while.
