Curious Case of Hive's Hidden Farmers

in #leofinance8 months ago (edited)

Hey Everyone,

Hope everyone is surviving this long, dry bear season!

It never fails to amuse me who suddenly becomes a “farmer” on Hive, after years of posting, make 2 or 3 low effort or boring posts (especially in Bear Season) and watch everyone lose their minds.

In the vast Web 3 of the internet, in the corner of the Crypto Universe, there was a unique cluster of farmland known as Hive's reward pool. This wasn't just any farmland, it was a blockchain-powered paradise where the soil was rich with potential, and the rewards were as sweet as honey. Hive’s Blockchain had many powerful attributes and attractions, but the farmland was unlike any other blockchain.

Instead of selling that Farmland and promoting this rich soil, uniqueness and opportunity, some of the farmers were actually upset about the luscious land and the fruit it bears.

The farmers of this land were an interesting bunch. They weren't your typical straw-hat-wearing, tractor-driving folks. No, these farmers typed away on keyboards, crafted captivating tales, and shared their thoughts with the world. They were authors, singers, poets, and artists, but in the world of Hive, they were known as the "unaware farmers."

Now, here's the twist: none of these farmers saw themselves as farmers. When they looked in the mirror, they saw artists, writers, thinkers, and creators. But when they looked at each other, all they saw were... farmers. It was a comical situation, like a never-ending game of "Who's the real farmer here?"

Farmer Bob, a travel blogger, would chuckle and say, "Look at Farmer Alice, tilling her soil with that travel guide." Meanwhile, Farmer Alice, a food blogger, would giggle and comment, "Oh, Farmer Bob, always trying to grow the best vacation spots."

The crops they cultivated were diverse. Some blog posts flourished like golden wheat, while others struggled like the rare blue potato. But that was the beauty of Hive's rewardpool; it was unpredictable and full of surprises.

There were two distinct seasons in this blockchain farmland: Bear Season and Bull Season.

During Bear Season, the climate was challenging. The rewards were scarce, and the soil was tough. Blog posts had to be exceptionally creative to thrive. But the farmers, being the resilient bunch they were, always found humor in the situation. "Looks like my meme crop didn't do so well this season," Farmer Joe would laugh, showing off his tiny harvest of upvotes.

Bull Season was where things got interesting. As more and more farmers learned about the fertile lands of Hive and began to sow their seeds, the demand for Hive increased. With more farmers wanting a piece of the reward pool, the price of Hive began to soar. This not only attracted more farmers but also better, more experienced ones. The quality of the crops - the blog posts - improved dramatically. The farmland buzzed with excitement as new techniques, tools, and strategies were shared among the community.

image.png

The rise in Hive's value was like a magnet, drawing in expert farmers from all corners of the digital world. They brought with them a wealth of knowledge, and the original farmers, always eager to learn, welcomed them with open arms.

But whether it was Bear or Bull, one thing remained constant: the camaraderie among the farmers. They might have seen each other as farmers and themselves as something else, but they were united in their passion for the land of Hive.

And so, in the heart of the digital crypto scape, the tale of Hive's unaware farmers became legendary. A story of downvotes, gangs, made up rules, rage quits and name calling. It never ended, even after years and years, no one saw themselves as a farmer and everyone considered most of the “others farmers”

In the History of Hive, the only thing that remains unchanged is the arguments. The farmers change but the debate/rage quitting never ends

To Be Continued…
Hey Guys, the markets should start to recover in 2024! Hang in there!

👩‍🌾

P.S. I wasn't calling you a cow. Was just sticking to the theme here. So I thought I'd add this disclaimer since being cancelled isn't something I have time for this week.

Haha! Ok, well if you ever do call me a cow, that will be hilarious and I will not cancel you! lol. I've been called worse.

I received a notification. Comment upvotes. Gives me a quick link to come back and see what others are saying, so I did. I saw Brian's comment and was all like, oh shit I used a cow emoji.

Artist brain is all like, oh shit. Here I go again being misunderstood...

I won't cancel you either. Being an artist then having those efforts diminished and converted into basic farming is just something people have to get used to, I guess...

I thought it was funny.

🐮

I'm offended! Lol I'm a farmer and I've been farming and I'm doing really great!

I'm nearly at 15,000 tokens!

Super amazing things are happening! I'm really excited to watch all of this go down!

An endless cycle it seems

Yep, I don't think it will ever change. lol

haha love this post. happy farming

Oh jeez, I am literally blown away by this write-up. I wish I had gotten a bigger upvote than I just did. Earlier before now, though it was morning at this time in my locality, when I saw you posting such a thread, I replied based on the face value or the literal meaning of the thread, but in the midst of my replying, my mind told me there is more to this thread than what its face value is, as it is related to farming.

First of all, I want to say this is the most entertaining and well-meaning article I have read today, both off and on Hive Blockchain. You deserve some accolades. See how you implied IMAGERY to this, using what is seen to describe that which is unseen. You are indeed not just a random writer, but a magnificent one. What a stunt you pulled! I should subscribe to your lessons and learn.

In the History of Hive, the only thing that remains unchanged is the argument. The farmers change but the debate/rage quitting never ends.

I love this

You just described what is happening right now, not just in the crypto world and trading but also in farming season. You must be a trained crypto analyst in addition to being a farmer.

Nah, just a nerd who likes to make fun of conflict.

Lolz, I see. Nice article down there.

Never ends, there's always a new farmer re-born 😀

😃 True and another control freak ready to step up and make some new rules! :) I'm convinced it never changes.

I loved the story... What a hilarious post!

Thank you I had fun writing it.

Hehe nice story! Will hang in there for the next bull run while slow but steady trying to farm some nice harvests!

Yep, hanging around

Recovering sooner?

I don't understand.

Your blog said bull back in 2024, it's come a little sooner. You were right though.

Sad and funny and true, all at the same time. My thing is, I descend from the country's oldest and best farmers. The fact that I get to be here and farm without reference to the legacy system that exploited my ancestors through cruel enslavement is a blessing. I am a farmer on Hive, and I consider that among the greatest blessings of my life. I come in and do the work every day, bull or bear, rain or shine, and I expect the proper return in due time ... but to be able to be here, through three of the worst years in the world's history for 80-100 years, is a blessing right now. I am a FREE, AWARE farmer on Hive, building for ME and US, freely. That's a blessing.

What a great attitude! Glad you are here and farming

LOL That's awesome. There will never be enough popcorn to see us through rage quitting season. As for me, I consider myself more of a gardener, just hanging out in the the comment section sprinkling fertilizer around lol

62 comments is impressive - here's a 63'rd one

I know of platforms where you would have a party if you got more than three!

C0W.e.jpg

I saw mention of cows so had to post this...

LOL! I've been here a while and seen all the arguments about what deserves rewards. Many of us 'old guard' may feel we are entitled to a good share, but I'll admit that I am a pure amateur at content creation. I see stuff on other platforms that I think should make a lot more than I do, but those people probably do okay anyway. That still leaves a lot of talent who struggle to earn anything on corporate platforms with all their rules about minimum subscribers etc.

If these people do join then we need to be careful not to scare them away. I really don't mind if me share of the pool goes down, but it's largely determined by auto-votes. If the $HIVE price goes up then we all benefit and the platform needs good content to grow. Let's not kid ourselves about the quality levels we currently have :)

Anyway, back to tending my crops.

Stagnation and fear impact the quality, playing the game cautious, because you want to be sure you aren't insulting anyone creates a flat base of little essay sounding posts. No depth, nothing interesting, no debates, and some of the most ridiculous made up rules for social media.

In the early days you were one of my favorites with a easy story telling ability, but like many of the "Old Guard", I got pretty turned off by all the posts and comments about policing the reward pool and making up rules that suit your specific style. (I went through the phase too, but it didn't last long)

In any case, I've always respected you and think you are a better content creator than you give yourself credit for!

Take care!

Cheers! I think writing on here for all this time has helped me develop and meeting lots of people has given me confidence.

ridiculous made up rules

Aren't all rules 'made up'? The thing is that those who enforce such rules are a tiny minority of the Hive community, but they do have some voting power. We do need some enforcement of agreed standards such as not plagiarising or self-voting of junk content, but a lot of it is subjective.

I've been part of the 'Hive police' when I thought it needing doing. Some people get serious abuse for doing that. I just saw someone on another platform talk about a 'Satanist cabal' on Hive. Yeah, right. I'm more a fan of Santa.

Stay well.

Yes, I think some policing is necessary also. And as we said in the early days it was all an experiment anyway.

I just don't think, many working middle class people will have the time or the patience to go through the process of understanding the rules, so we have old timers and people who are hungry enough to put up with it remaining.

I'm curious to see how well Hive rebounds in the Bull Season.

So true!

Lol. I enjoyed reading this and I am dreading when the hordes come to invade the fertile land when the Bull cycle starts. It was daunting starting out under such conditions as they take no prisoners and it is everyone for themselves.

I'm looking forward to it picking back up before we self destruct! :)

I really liked the story. It's an endless loop, but we're always here. Happy farming.

Happy farming my friend!

Geeez we need more Whats Up in our lives around these parts!

Best thing I've read in a long long time :)

Ever thought about writing an animal farm for Hive?

Haha, that's a great idea, I might try it! :)

(especially in Bear Season)

Ha... yeah... it really showcases the double standard.
People get mad that value is getting extracted while the price is down.

Why are you leeching? Why weren't you more responsible during the bull market?

Except those same people must not have been responsible during the bull either otherwise they'd be living in abundance and glad to have the opportunity to chip in and buy more Hive. An odd hypocrisy to be sure. Abundance & scarcity are weird like that.

It usually sounds like: I fear you are getting some of the rewards I feel like I should get!

That's EXACTLY what it is...

I loved it.

Farmer @michupa

Ha ha… very true. Hopefully the bear is almost done. It’s time to hibernate soon. 🐻

I sure hope so

This was a brilliantly written post @whatsup.

What would they say about futuremind?

"Look at farmer futuremind over there, oh wait he's gone?... He'll be back in six months, he must still be trying to figure out how to grow weed."

:D

I've always felt in this way that our blockchain social space is somewhat a digital transposition of how things work in the real world. A pyramidal power structure with a printed asset. Sure the intricacies may vary in ways, like total printable supply limit vs assets with no printable limitation, but the basic core principles are digitally transposed in my mind. What could possibly go wrong?

A story of downvotes, gangs, made up rules, rage quits and name calling. It never ended, even after years and years, no one saw themselves as a farmer and everyone considered most of the “others farmers”

Just like in the real world, lots of calling the kettle black and finger points without seeing the few fingers pointing back.

Things might look bleak, but there's still always time to change the future.

lol, the rules are what get me...

This post does not add value.. (none of them alone add value it's the network that is valuable you moron)

This post is over rewarded.. (um, have you read your own drivel)

You didn't engage with your readers.. (really)

You post too often, that was too many photos, this is a rewrite.. (Every news story is a series of rewrites of an original press release)

Anyway.. blah blah

Hehe, I like the fact that everyone sees everyone else but themselves as farmers, 😂

!pimp

You must be killin' it out here!
@b0s just slapped you with 1.000 PIMP, @whatsup.
You earned 1.000 PIMP for the strong hand.
They're getting a workout and slapped 1/2 possible people today.

Read about some PIMP Shit or Look for the PIMP District

Lol, this is some next level dark shit, hats off whale😂

It's the Neverending Story. Best to just keep growing those crops! 2024 is not so far away... Bitcoin halving time in April.

Hang in there everyone

LEO Power Up Day - September 15, 2023

They should ban publications where they raffle GAME TOKENS, remove all kinds of raffles, rising star people earn money daily and just connect and repeat a post day after day .... Only the hive bleeds

I'm not for banning anything

I love that Tobey McGuire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland all agreed that recreating this shot was a good idea. And that they got a photographer to film it, too!

They all give off a likeable vibe. Can you imagine Jared Leto as Spiderman?
That'd tank so hard.

Agreed. He'd be a better Green Goblin or Mysterio.

"Who's the real farmer here?"

None! everyone here suffers of hemispatial neglect and hemispherical blindness!!

Farmers, gangs, bullies at the posting space now found a new way to earn. Look at the Proposal section,
How many of these projects are worthy to the defined daily payment?
Who monitor their work & milestone?
Who upvoted their proposal & why?
How many of these projects could bring an actual value to Hive?
Questions that didn't find a worthy answers in my mind. After all Hive price is failing continuously. While the whole marketplace were up, it went down & while the whole marketplace down, it also went down. Feeling crazy... Honestly I deserve more downvotes from this f###### space!

$WINE

Cheers~

The Proposal process is another thing that could be used to specifically seek out app creators and bring people on board.

I wish they would make it more public and offer funded proposals to app developers. But, that takes cordinated efforts, so it's unlikley.

It's bear season, they test will be how well Hive rebounds this time, because the crypto space is too big, While I think Hive is way ahead of some other projects we do not sell or promote ourselves or this platform well.

The current proposal system looks like a pool of favorizes. It's better allocate some of these funds to promote Hive in different events.
I didn't see non of us monitor the progress of each proposal the community funded there.
