Here the marketing department at Ethereum Inc were smart enough to spin it as them changing the world.
They get the positive headlines this news cycle, hooray.
i mean, technically they did reduce their impact
But the reality is nothing changes because those miners didn't bin their shit.
They just went somewhere else...
Lol.
i just wonder what tiny percentage of miners powered down for good
Anyway for me, the security and decentralisation benefits that PoW networks offer society, justify their energy consumption.
Especially since the economic incentives actually encourage green energy innovation.
There are so many other things that society should prioritise limiting the energy consumption of, before PoW networks.
But yeah, PoW emissions are just an easy target for the 24H news cycle world we live in.
