This is another awesome person from Detroit who we all love, Mama Shu!
Shamayim Harris is breathing life back into Detroit with Avalon Village.
Avalon Village, just off Woodward on Detroit's Westside into a 21st-century sustainable eco-village.
We call her Mama Shu she is successfully transforming the blighted in Detroit neighborhood with art, activities, food, community building in an ecologically sustainable way and taking care of the families and youth in the community by providing a camp in Highland Park, within the City limits of Detroit, Mi.
Mama Het took be to the Sunday Dinner event at Mama Shu's which was in June, and the next one is July 31st. All proceeds go to the "Homework House," and it's been a long time since I had some good ole soul food, so my tastebuds were in the full joyness of deliciousness.
This is really a wonderful place to visit and support, for the whole family, it's a sustainable eco community so it's all about growth and creativity. They are really amazing. I ate Chicken, with sweet potatoes, macaroni and beans and the most yummy delish key lime cheesecake cupcake, oh my! I will add some pictures I took soon to the facebook I took while I was there, in a few days. Here's a short film on you will enjoy if you like documentary.
<Be inspired and enjoy this 5 minute documentary on Mama Shu.
