One of the most powerful emotions we have as humans is nostalgia.
That moment you turn on a song and it triggers something. An emotion, a memory so vivid you feel like it just happened. But it didn't. It happened years ago.
That is the power of nostalgia.
The feeling of past emotions, memories, experiences coming back to you in the present.
That is what nostalgia is.
The culmination of your past being triggered by something to bring it into your present.
It is triggered by music, life events, basically anything you experience on a daily basis. It can trigger nostalgia.
That sensation of enjoying the past today.
It is such a powerful sensation.
It is what has driven the sales and tours of older celebrities, bands, and artists today. We heard their music when we were kids and now we have disposable income and we have access to music. So we want to listen what makes us happy, what triggers those moments of simpler times.
Myself personally I have been for whatever reason been listening to a lot of old 1990s-2000s music. And it is bringing such great energy back to me its raising my vibrations like crazy.
Not sure if this is a similar experience to most. But the power of nostalgia is rapidly becoming noticed among the mainstream as well.
Festival owners, consumer good and service companies, amusement park companies, and film producers are harnessing the power of nostalgia to drive sales, customer retention, and customer satisfaction.
Studies show that when individuals are under the influence of nostalgia they are more likely to:
spend more money,
more willing to donate to charitable causes,
be more patient and wait in line longer,
more conductive to group-activities,
increase the connection between brand and individual, and
have a more satisfied memory of the experience.
As one study says: "we tend to feel happier, have higher self-esteem, feel close to loved-ones, and feel like life has more meaning."
The power of nostalgia is epic. And it just starting to be understand and harnessed.
So what is nostalgia?
It is the present from the Universe for us humans to have the sensation of feeling the past in the present. And so vividly that it affects our present and our future.
Learn to harness this sensation and holy smokes the potential is endless.
Hope this brings value in understanding nostalgia. It is one of the biggest macro trends myself and others are studying. Such a powerful phenomena.
Thank you as always for your time, support, and attention. It means the world :)

I find that the most effective thing to bring on nostalgia is scent.
I can be walking down the street and can catch a whiff of the aftershave that an ex boyfriend used to wear 20 years ago and BAM suddenly I'm there and all the memories come flooding back to me.
Holy smokes that's incredible.
And you are so right now that I think of it smell triggers such nostalgia.
God bless.

I'm a sucker for nostalgia gets me all the time. A lot of my materialism steams from nostalgia, I keep things for nostalgic value. Does this make me materialistic I wonder?
Righttttttt my friend.
But maybe it does, but in a different meaning of the word.
Materialistic in the way that you want to be able to trigger past memories and experiences.
That's why I keep a lot of things.
God bless.

Well said. I am getting better and only keeping very special things, more storage. But your right it triggers the memory bring that moment in to the present. But some might argue your memory become weaker is you have stimuli around. I like them however so am stick with my selected few :)

Memory is deceptive because it is colored by today's events.

Sometimes. But sometimes if you know how to train your memory you can avoid that.
