You Are More Important Than You Could Ever Know

in #life5 years ago

Weird dipping my toe back in the water of writing, haven't done it in quite a while and I am a little rusty. Felt like it might be time to start again though. The cathartic nature of it is good for me. I don't know how good it is for the people who read my ramblings, but maybe, just maybe, my brand of crazy will resonate with someone out there.

I have been kicking around an idea in my head over the past week. It is an idea that I have been chewing on for, well heck, the past four years. It is the idea of how interconnected our world and lives are. This perpetual butterfly effect that exists in this world. How the simple and inane actions that we take to interact with the world have profound impacts on such a wide range of people and situations.

My idea of this is less a butterfly flaps its wings and though a series of events, causes a tropical storm, but more an idea of that we are rocks skipping across a pond. Each time we touch the water, we create a rings on the water that radiate out in all directions. As we skip along, our rings interact with other rings created by other's skipping on the pond. Some of these interactions create larger waves, some create no waves and some create a series of new rocks skipping upon the pond. All these rocks skipping across the pond, are creating waves that will interact and those waves will crash upon the shore of history for longer than we can even perceive.

From what I can reconcile in my brain, is that we can never fully understand the significance of the actions, both positive and negative we have on this world. And what sucks as I continue to flesh this out in my mind, is both the controllable nature and the uncontrollable nature of this path. We all are in some sense, taught or embedded with a moral compass to do what is right and fair, but what burns my mind up is that someone doing wrong can cause eventual outcomes that impact the greater good. I will use he example of Gavrilo Princip. If you don't know who this person it, he is one of the most important people for the when it comes to identifying where were are in history right now. For many of us in Europe and the America's, he is probably the reason your were born. I am going to move quickly through this and skip a lot, so I apologize in advance. Gavrilo killed a man, an important man that sparked WWI. WWI resulted in losses of whole generations in Europe and the annihilation of several countries. Germany was saddled with the war guilt and forced to pay for the war which destroyed their economy. Well, that helped spark and gave rise to Hitler in Germany and the spark of WWII. Destruction of millions and millions of live, not trying to gloss over, but out of all of that came our grandparents and great grandparents and eventually us. All that hardship, pain and persecution had end results in us. The people trying to make the world a better place. Saying that, the waves from this, unknown person are still crashing on the shore and will continue to crash upon the shore.

So with all that being a little heavy, what I guess I am trying to say is that we can't understand the impacts we make on this world and those around them. We don't understand the importance we play. The hardship that someone might be encountering now and the strength shown to fight through, might show the path to a better life to others. I know this has been a long journey, but I guess the moral of the story is be your best self always. Don't be afraid to be vulnerable. Understand that what you now, reverberates through history. Be mindful.
