DREAMS, HOPES AND CHALLENGES AHEAD (plus my STEEMIT anniversary)

in #life5 years ago (edited)
123.jpgToday is kind of a special day for me on Steemit platform as I just realized that it's exactly 365 days since I've registered my account. TADAM!

INTRODUCTION

line2.png

Most of you my dear readers know part of my life’s story and you're also well aware of my upcoming challenges. So, after several years living in various countries around the world, I decided that it's time go back to Europe to settle down for a bit.

Reasons behind it are quite simple: since immigration policies of major powers like US and EU started tightening, other emerging markets followed and it's causing an exodus of foreigners in Asia. Even being married to local Malaysian doesn't make me feel secured anymore. Especially in current days when we're witnessing a lack of political stability across the globe.

So it's time to move back.

CHALLENGES AHEAD

line2.png

I got used to being an “outsider".

Someone who never fully belonged to a particular place I was living in and the local communities surrounding me.

I'm sure @fitinfun and @majes.tytyty (whom I got to know personally - AMAZING Fella) could agree that living in South East Asia makes you feel that way.

It has been always easy to find other "outsiders" to build solid relationships with. Knowing right people and building healthy friendship has been my priority for so many years. I guess that shaped me to who I am today :)

I learned to love that feeling, of being always ignored, never part of any local unrest, never involved in politics, never being able to understand other people talking between each other in subway. Living in a small bubble and sharing direct connections with other similar bubbles. I LOVED IT!

Coming back to Europe can be very challenging. That bubble I managed to create will surely burst within days. And I hope that some of you can help me get prepared for what's coming.

SIMILAR EXPERIENCES?

line2.png

I'm fully aware that many people out there have similar experiences coming back to their homeland and trying to rebuild old friendships.

Learn to know your own family closer.

Getting familiar with your nieces and nephews of who so far you know only mostly from Skype calls.

Coming back from South East Asia, where it's always warm and cosy, where even very poor people seem to be happier than middle class in Europe.

I mean ... I still remember years ago, when I've thrown wrong rubbish into wrong trash-bin .... I got heavily scolded by an old man, who resorted to calling me all worst names I could imagine. People explode with frustration left and right. This I've learned during my short visits in Europe.

How to get ready? I would like to hear your suggestions and advices. Or simply any warnings or mistakes that anyone in similar situation ever had. After all re-connecting with entire "old life" may not be very easy.

So again ... any advices? :)

PEACE OF MIND

line2.png

If you've been following up recent events related to recent "20k delegation" contest by @theycallmedan, then contunie reading.

Otherwise you can skip till end of this post :)

During that contest some unnecessary and hurtful words has been said on both sides. I think it's time for all of us (those involved) to realize that we are a bunch of small communities and this conflict doesn't serve anyone. We share similar friends, that we are putting in an awkward position. I can only hope that those wrongful accusations that were hurled our way were only a result of "miscommunication".

Right now my wish is to open new chapter in my life, with peace in my mind. So as a "peace gesture" I would like to one more time CONGRATULATE to @SteemitBloggers and I honestly hope this 20k will serve you guys well.

I hope we can move forward and "shake" each other’s hands, having in our minds that we should serve our communities. Not the other way around.

CHINESE SAYING

line2.png

I've heard that saying several times and it goes like that:

"Alone you go fast,
Together you go far"

And I absolutely agree.

Yours, Piotr

Hi @safetony

Sorry for late reply.

I also just noticed that you didnt post anything in 10 days. Hope you didn't give up on Steemit buddy

WOOO, I do not know if I could one day do what you did, I have not done it even with the difficult situation that my country is living, I am not sure of the reasons that led you to emigrate from your country, whether it was work, conflicts or something like that. I think that the migrant is a very brave person because it should not be easy to get away from the close family and leave for an unknown country, where strangers live.

My dear friend @crypto.piotr, for me you are a brave man. My advice to you is that you trust in God, I am one of those who thinks that God has control over all things and if you are allowing them to return in this time, you must believe that it is the right time to return, you have nothing to fear because He will guide your way.

For the rest, I pray that you will do well in this new stage of your life with your family and that you will achieve the success you deserve.

Pr Euclides Villegas

Yep, yep @fucho80
@crypto.piotr is what we would call in Jersey a trooper.

Dear @fucho80

I am not sure of the reasons that led you to emigrate from your country

I didn't emigrate in a way you would imagine it. I was blessed with good job and I managed to work online for many years, so my lifestyle allowed me to travel a lot.

I've seen China, Mongolia, Russia, Taiwan, Korea, Japan, almost entire europe and some middle eastern countries. I've spent years in Thailand and Malaysia. Kind of "drifter". Never knowing where my next "home" will be.

It has been really amazing journey and it's killing me that I'm back to place where I started.

My advice to you is that you trust in God

It's hard to trust in God seeing so much evil and cruelty around the world.

Yours
Piotr

Personally, I believe that blockchain data management and the health of a crypto financed world will aid in situations just like these. Mudslinging and such will be replaced with something better or left behind entirely. Mind you, this does not save the sinner, but at least alleviates some of the weight of the crosses endured by those filled with the love of God.

If you're wondering... yes I am back on Steemit. Reorganized some stuff so I can fit in regular weekly contributions that add value to our web.

Thank you for your comment @machnbirdsparo

And also sorry for such a late reply. Just wanted to let you know that I only had a chance to read your comment now and I appreciate you being so responsive.

If you're wondering... yes I am back on Steemit. Reorganized some stuff so I can fit in regular weekly contributions that add value to our web.

Love to hear that :)

Perhaps you could always send me memo with link to your publication and 2-3 sentences description ? I will gladly support you with upvote, will drop a comment.

Especially if your publication will be related to crypto, blockchain,AI, economy or psychology (just don't send me memos like every day hehe)

And if I will have some time then I will also share your publication with my larger audience and will help you get some extra traffic.

Please keep in mind, that you can count on my help (whenever I can support you, I will) :)
Cheers, Piotr

Very much appreciated. Will be working to coordinate with this network in the coming weeks. Freeing up time slowly :)

The situation in countries now - increasing turbulent.
So try to reduce is not your country.
Especially traveling between other countries.
My dream is to live to 120 years old.!
Good health.
I am traveling near my home.
Run to the beach,
Running to the mountains.
Where I live,
Running behind for 20 minutes is a hill,
Running in front of 30 minutes is the sea.
other say : STEEM returned to 0.4, up to 0.5 in the last few days.

My dream is to live to 120 years old.!

Wow. Are you trying to become a world champion? :) Not many people can reach that age.

Good luck to you :)

Happy Steemiversary! But for real, feeling like an outsider is kinda my thing everywhere I go man. You just need to be you, wherever in the world you are, and just be secure in yourself and you will be fine. I haven’t moved from one part of the world to another, but in the US, Moving from one side of the country to the other can feel that way. Keep your head up and on a swivel no matter where you are. And just be cool and abide my dude!

Posted using Partiko iOS

I go with all of this advice too, @crypto.piotr. No matter where you go - there you are! I have been a nomad since childhood and do not have a "home" in the sense others do. The country of my passport is not a place I ever plan to see again, but never say never. If I did go there, I would not plan to go to the place I was as a child since no one I know is there anyway.

I have been to the EU back when it was Europe, and I was a stranger in a strange land everywhere I went there. My only advice is to go somewhere warm, but I was cold when I was in Greece, so that might not be possible. Secondly, change your country on your profile since it still says Malaysia.

Big congrats on your anniversary. I will be here on steem two years soon, with no regrets!

Dear @fitinfun

I have been a nomad since childhood and do not have a "home" in the sense others do.

Wow. You must have very challenging life.

The country of my passport is not a place I ever plan to see again, but never say never

That's how I felt, and there you are ... I'm back after 14 long and amazing years and I'm overwhelmed ...

Secondly, change your country on your profile since it still says Malaysia

Thanks for that tip! :)

Hello @crypto.piotr special greetings. I loved the humble way you use to communicate. It shows who you are. I admire you. You have done an excellent job and a very good call. I hope that the success follow you to accompany. I join in the congratulations @SteemitBloggers. Blessings, you will find the peace wherever you go.

Hello great friend @crypto.piotr,

Happy steemit anniversary and I must say you have really achieve a lot on this awesome platform within a short time. I find it hard to believe that your are just a year old on steemit given you dedication to building and growing various steemit communities that have real impact on the lives of people from different part the globe.

No doubt, immigration policies are really tightening globally especially in Asia. I am still awaiting my Student Visa having been here for more than five months now... I can only hope for a positive outcome soonest.

My advice on heading backing to Europe would be, try to surround yourself with people/communities that care and appreciate the little things in life like laughter, family, animals, loyalty, respect, nature, kindness etc.
From my experience, I have learnt that those that appreciate these things tend to be happier in life.

Wishing you a safe trip & once again... Happy anniversary!

Best regards always,
Toni

Dear @straighttalk

Congrats @crypto.piotr way to go! (seems like we both started on steem the same day...)

How considerate are you with your followers. When you tell us these things about your life, you establish a very personal contact with us, Thank you!

I hope that the re-encounter with your family causes a harmonizing effect in your being.
All that good vibes will turn into incredible ideas that you will bring us soon.

I wish you all the best.

PS: Happy birthday! (in steemit).

Interesting times ahead Piotr.

I hear what you are saying. I'm currently living in Jakarta myself, and am also that outsider, and kind of like that bubble ;-)

Eventually planning to return to Europe as well, so I will follow your story :-)

Advice? Just in general: you're the average of the 5 people you spend most time with. Choose your people wisely and invest your time with laser focus.

Dear @cryptotem

I appreciate your kind words. Thx for your comment buddy.

Welcome back to Europe! Hope you are able to find your place again here... I am also far from where I was born, and it is tricky to keep in touch with family.... but that is the life that we have chosen!

From my experience (I only understand Dutch if I really pay attention...), living in our bubbles means that we see only what we are wanting to see. So, in our own homelands (or native languages) we tend to see and hear more things that we perceive as negative... I do the same in Australia! However, I'm sure that the same problems and everything exist here in Netherlands (or in every country, just popping up in different forms)... it would be a touch romantic to think otherwise!

Hi there,

Welcome back to Europe! Hope you are able to find your place again here...

I hope so too :)

I'm in Den Haag... I do travel a bit, so maybe I'll find myself in your part of the woods at some time!

That would be so very awesome @bengy :)

I love meeting up with interesting people from Steemit. I got to know few already :)

Cheers,
Piotr

Dear Piotr, regarding your coming back to europe, of course you will find more in service and developments but in the same time people more cold like the temperature, so you know it and please be prepared...
About the 20k sp contest, it was a great competition, of course thanks to you too, because @steembloggers is a radical chic club where most people are top users who like Steemit as it is now and want make just profit, @steemchurch is a pour people club which is trying to help who have no money but want to stay in this social network and survive their bad situation as per Venezuela people.
We are in the same ship my friend, let going on like this, so together we will go far!!

Thank you for your kind words @intellihandling

And obviously sorry for such a late reply. Finally I'm catching up with old messages lol :)

Let's sail on this one ship together! :)

Cheers, Piotr

Hello @crypto.piotr,
Thank you for your heart-felt and very candid post. Everyone has their own unique journey in life. You were blessed to experience different cultures for a significant amount of time, respectively. It's interesting how life can show you a certain way of living and then later thrust you into a completely different lifestyle. With each experience you've evolved whether you notice it or not.

I'm sure when you initially traveled there was a period of adjustment, but with time you found your groove. When you go back home to Europe it will be a similar situation in regards to adjusting to the daily living in your hometown. At first, even though it was place you grew up in, it will be challenging. What I would suggest is to take things in stride. Like that older gentleman you mentioned earlier about the trash incident. Sometimes, no matter how small or big the situation is, we take it personally. I mean who wouldn't, right? It can be difficult to ignore the brashness or rudeness of people, but what I have found helpful in that situation is to 1)Tell myself "It's not personal" (More times than not I have to say that to myself multiple times and try to genuinely feel it) 2) I try not to judge the other person, because everyone has their own life’s journey and you never know what events led them to be the way they are. Which ties into the “Don’t take it personal”. 3) “Let it go” like Elsa says in Frozen, lol :D and last but not lease 4) Reciprocate with kindness. Crazy right?....kindness? Yes, spread positivity and good vibes. Be your own beacon for optimism in the world.

I’ve always found myself gravitate to people who seem to be considered “outsiders” or not part of the “in-crowd”. One of my dearest and oldest friends is a serious introvert, especially when I first met him. He primarily kept to himself and that is okay. I was like that too when I was younger. I was painfully shy. I would be the one who would rather blend in with the wall than make new friends. It wasn’t until college that I started to be more social and my bff, he didn’t start to break out of his shell till he started working for Disney. He’s more outspoken and comfortable with himself now. Granted he still, like myself, sometimes want some alone time, away from people. It’s all good.

For someone who is shy or prefers to be alone, if you know that you are going to be in an environment where being social or recognized is inevitable try to prepare yourself mentally and try to relax. Do some meditation and try put yourself in a calm state. Have the expectation that people will want to talk to you, especially if it has been several years since you’ve been home for a long period of time. Keep in mind your family and friends genuinely want to get to know you better. I’m sure they missed you. Encourage yourself to be open to a conversation. Be excited, not nervous, to share your fabulous experience. Not everyone had that amazing opportunity to live in another country and submerge themselves in a different culture. That my friend, in itself, is awesome. Kudos to you for having the guts to do that.

Take your time, just enjoy yourself, and the experience. Be your authentic self and just be happy! You Got This Piotr!

Also Happy Steemit Anniversary Piotr! :)

I wish you the greatest success in your new place of residence.

I can translate of your post and actions, you are a citizen of the world, of those who are needed to rebuild a society. You have solid human values, gift of people, sensitivity, you are leader, supportive and very educated.

I have been away from Steemit for having to solve personal problems that I face while still living in Venezuela. So I hope you forgive me for not fulfilling the commitment to be more active in the community.

Dear @crypto.piotr Happy STEEMIT anniversary

I got used to being an “outsider".

I can relate to that feeling very well. Perhaps in a way I am in a similar boat myself.
It is strange how fluid life can be perhaps that is what life is always changing and throwing challenges at you.
When you feel you are in control and things are fine something happens and bursts that security bubble around you.
So now I see life more as a journey where there are no constants and no takeaways or perhaps the only things that stay with us are our experiences.

As for the 20K delegation experience I feel we are wiser from the whole experience.

"Alone you go fast,
Together you go far"

I totally agree with this and let me assure you that we did not lose this because what you have won is the trust of the people beyond communities and what really matters is if we can bring together people to work for a common cause.
We may start small but the number would build up and collectively the power would be more than 20k because I have seen how karma works.
What goes around comes around. We played fair and that is all that matters as we are trying to build a community that goes beyond borders.
We may be down in this round but we are certainly not out. We come back stronger and rebound harder. Driven by the idea to work and build a community beyond boundaries.
Have a safe journey buddy

My dear friend @crypto.piotr

I'll start by saying that in my first post I wrote something like that,

"At 12 years old I left my home. I was wandering in my own land I knew many places so I consider myself from many places where I learned each custom and lived them to the maximum while I was in that particular place. "

What you say in this post is very similar to what in my life has happened, I still have not returned to my place of origin but I know that you will do it in a gallant way and with much learning everything lived out of your place of origin that will help you face and face what you will start living again.

Do not worry everything will be given in a fluid way, by your way of being and expressing what you feel, I know that whatever happens to you, you will know how to get out and get stronger, this is one more test in your long life.

Which I want it to be and that way it will be very prosperous.

Friend a big fraternal hug from Venezuela and I know that when you get home from your parents you will receive many hugs with a lot of affection from your relatives and especially from those nephews.

My grandfather always told me.

"Do not go so fast, go slowly, where you have to go is always yourself."

I hope to hear from you soon.

Yours José Lanz

First of all congratulations with your 365 days anniversary at Steem. You achieved a lot and way more as I did.

No matter where you live you will always find people who ignore you or will scold at you. If you have an eye for it or ask there are also great, helpful people everywhere.

I lived in several countries, moved for periods nearly every year and I know people do discriminate me for the way I look in a mainly white/western community, the person I am and my self esteem in communities where communism is not over that long ago and people seem to think I am rich... by married women afraid I steal their husband, by those who are less creative because it looks as if my life is way better as theirs...

You created your bubble, I live underneath a stone where life is good. There is less stress and I can be who I am with the people I like no matter what they look like or others think about them.

I learned family is abusive and manipulative in the name of blood, so I have less family left over if it comes to the bloodline.

At the moment I live 2 lives, completely different lives. In both I am partly accept. The little house I rented in my homecountry is a nice one with very nice polite people. They have time for a chat, sing, greet if they walk (or bicycle) by... that for sure will not be the case in every neighbourhood.

The world is changing and it will not turn into a better world. I am sorry to hear you do no longer feel safe. It is the reason we all have certain dogs (I have 4 daughters, 1 son) and my youngest two were no longer safe in Holland.

I hope the country they live in now, that educates them will be a better home country to them as the one they were born, but above all the people will accept them (that might be the only problem).

I hope for you and your wife the problems many of us have to deal with will be solved soon.
I do not see the open borders since years.

I wish you all the love and luck needed.

Dear @wakeupkitty

Thank you for your kind words and I'm sorry for such a late reply. Somehow I missed it and had a pleasure to read it a seconds ago.

How have you been doing lately? Hope everything is okey?

You created your bubble, I live underneath a stone where life is good.

I love how you described it :)

I wish you all the love and luck needed.

Thank you my dear :)

Piotr

hahahaha...hey buddy i think we signed up on this platform in the same month. I also got my reward for being on this platform about four days ago. I feel so happy being on this platform and i have met several people on this platform that i am very proud of.
Let's make steemit a great place to be guys :)

Yours @Ikkelins

Congratulations!

I don't exactly have much experience adjusting to this sort of situations. I've changed schools. One thing I did was to keep a low profile and minimize interactions. If there are no interactions there can be no cause for hurting or offending or conflict. Then find few close friends you can get along with well and stick to them.

I'm bit towards the introvert side and that's what worked for me. Your location may also have an effect too. So picking a good neighbourhood ca go a long way too.

No reply is a late replay (unless someone was dying)
Cheers!

Happy one year anniversary Piotr. I hope your move went well. All is well in the Steemit community and Steem is moving in the right direction. 🙏

congratulations on your steem anniversary.

does your return to your homeland have anything to do with Brexit? anyway, it is true what they say: there is no place like home.

it is true for me (i also came back from Singapore), and i wish the same for you.

Truly could resonate how that felt.

Was working overseas for a few years until I decided my calling was back home in Malaysia.

Even after 2 years I have trouble working with normal locals hence I find the energy to be part of the Food Bank reaching out to outcasts rewarding.
