Lastly I came across an angry post on Steemit. The author was saying that people shouldn't lie. This person was saying something like : "Even little lies are bad, because they are as a matter of fact, lies". Then follows a talk about being righteous and honest no matter what.
No need to ask for the return of honests and rightful people , because as a matter of fact : everybody lies. Everyday and several times per day.
We just don't even notice it.
There are plenty of times where it is faster and simpler to lie.
Most of the time, we give an incomplete information, or a simplified one because it's just easier than going into the whole details.
There are numerous papers/books/studies explaining this phenomenon on internet.
Everyone is pretty much lying all the time
Truth is everyone lies all the time
As a very quick example, take this greetings between two neighbours :
- "Hi how are you ?"
- "Oh hi! I'm fine and you ?"
This is a lie : "I am fine"/"Good" etc.. are ritual answers that you are likely to get every time you ask : "How are you ?"
Indeed who is willing to share its real worries/ issues to anyone asking ?
There are lots of small talks like this, even real discussions were what we say is inaccurate, distordes or even a real lie. It is just a convenient way to keep in touch with people.
Also some studies show that when we speak to a stranger, 2/3 of what we say are lies. I myself was very surprised to realize this. I thought I was never lying. Well actually, as everybody who has a social life, I do.
And it is absolutely normal.
So next time you spot a "liar", remember that, in a way, we all lie.... a lot more than we think !
