Are you a fan of the cold shower? Have you already tried it?

The cold shower has many benefits for our health. So what are these benefits? And how to do it in practice? Personally, I have been testing it for a few months and I would like to share with you the wonderful results of this beautiful experience.

First of all, and before I start, I must mention a little trick: Taking a cold shower is starting with cold water and ending with cold water, it is not starting with hot water and ending with cold water, the idea is to get out of one's comfort zone so that the organism strengthens itself thanks to the defense mechanism that it will put in place.

I explain all this in detail below:

Benefit 1:

The cold shower is great to start your day, cold water stimulates the body, activates it and puts it on alert, you feel boosted, it gives clarity of mind.

Benefit 2:

The cold shower improves well-being and reduces stress, because the body is put in a stressful situation for a short time and with time the body will be able to deal better with stress in general, it also relaxes the muscles and promotes the secretion of noradrenalin in the body, which is a neuromediator that prepares for action and increases alertness and contributes to general well-being. Taking a cold shower is also a good therapy to fight against depression and negative emotions. A cold shower in the evening helps you to sleep better because sleep is promoted by a drop in body temperature.

Benefit 3:

The immune system is strengthened: The body is subjected to a short but intense stress, which allows our body to better respond and protect itself against viruses and infections.

Benefit 4:

The cold shower stimulates the heart, which beats harder and faster to react to the situation, and as the vessels retract, the heart is obliged to work faster to irrigate all the organs, especially the vital organs, which will receive more oxygen and more nutrients and thus eliminate waste better. The cold shower will allow the heart to become more muscular and this is excellent news, as the heart is a muscle and it is important that it is well-muscled to function correctly. The blood circulation prevents the appearance of varicose veins and reduces cellulite.

Benefit 5 :

The cold shower allows you to burn calories, not a lot, but a little, so what are the reasons? It's simple: the body must maintain a constant temperature of 37 degrees, so the body will spend energy to do this job.

Benefit 6:

It greatly improves the condition of the skin and hair, of course the results will be seen in the long term, the skin will be firmer, softer and smoother as the pores of the skin on contact with the water will shrink rather than dilate with a hot shower. Cold water is also very beneficial for the hair as it prevents it from drying out. Cold water is in fact a real anti-ageing treatment.

Benefit 7:

The cold shower has an effect on the mind and boosts our self-confidence.

For the practice, I give you some important tips:

  1. If you have never tried the cold shower and you want to do it then go gradually and little by little, as you adapt you increase the intensity.
  2. You can do some deep breathing during your cold shower so that you can focus on something other than the cold water.
  3. You need to be in the right frame of mind while showering: 'Yes I can do it, no the water is not cold and yes I can do it'.
  4. The flow of water must be sufficient for it to be beneficial, because a few drops on your body will make you feel colder, and that is not at all the desired effect.
  5. Dry yourself well after the cold shower, especially in winter.
  6. Don't shower for too long, 2 to 3 minutes is fine.

WARNING, a contra-indication for people with a heart condition! Too big a temperature shock could be dangerous, so as I said before you have to go gradually.

I am now sharing my experience with you:

A few months ago I said to myself that it would be good to test, I have indeed heard about the benefits of the cold shower but I had not yet dared because before I liked my hot shower, but I still wanted to test and experiment especially the tools that I can advise my family, my friends and everyone. And so I launched myself into the challenge, frankly I loved the experience, I am proud of myself for having succeeded and I find it pleasant and refreshing and I tell myself that I should have started before. Now I am committed to continuing this experience forever, because the results I have had for my health have really impressed me and therefore make me want to continue.
