Real Quick
I borrowed an old air rifle.
In the first picture, you see my 'grouping'.
This is from ~15m (16 yards).
The grouping is ok, I'd say.
Shot from a lawnchair.
The issue: I was aiming at the center of the 0 the whole time.
The sight is not true, I think.
Windage adjustment stuff...
I think I need to twist this Windage adjustment screw counter clockwise and slowly walk the thing to the left.... right??
Asking the Americans mostly. For some of you this is probably ridiculous...
Tagging: @jeffjagoe @solominer for good measure.
I'll spend the day shooting, and I will be able to read replies, but answering might be difficult.
Any help is welcome.
Thanks in advance.
And btw: I'm ok. Back to blogging soon. Just too busy with outdoor stuff.
It's a little hard to see in the pic, but it looks like clockwise would be the direction to move your point of impact to the left.
your advice was spot on. thanks heaps.
impact was still off center, but there was actually wind blowing. I think it's well sighted in now. clockwise 2 1/4 turns, roughly.
Always happy to help, especially with precision lead slinging.
the trigger is janky as.
I'll oil the thing - probably have to take it apart a bit. got permission.
will update if necessary.
having a blast, lol
it's a big R on the bottom half of the screwhead. I assumed this means 'Rechts' (German) ; 'Right' in English
Yes, but the arrow above it seems to point to the left (counterclockwise), indicating that turning the dial in that direction would move point of impact to the right.
ok. got it. I'll turn the screw 2 ticks clockwise and check the effect. thanks a lot.
At 15 yards, you may have to move it quite a bit more than that to see a difference. Most scopes are designed so that one click = 1/4" at 100 yards.
This is really the best way. Make a set distance and shoot a grouping from there. Then tweak the sight and shoot another grouping from that same distance. From there you can can get a better eye at what kind of adjustment needs to be made and just continue on with groupings from that distance until you’re zero’d out
I went through the first 500 pellets really quickly.
Everything that would make a good target, is now perforated like a shower head :D.
I was looking for a quick fix, like: probably turn the screw by 180° clockwise and you should have it much closer to center...
Anyways: this shit is mad fun.
I think, I am going to get a full gun license. (much more restrictive than in the states but possible)
And if I ever make it to the Land of the Free: let's go to a range!
I want to smoke up and shoot some cans.
Please email mister Trump for me :D
Hard to say which way to turn it. If you had a laser bore sight you could figure out pretty quick what way to turn it.
I think, this is hard to bore sight, because it's tilting barrel and the scopemount isn't on the barrel, but over the 'chamber'.
I don't know, how the laser thingy works, but I could probably eyeball the bore and the sight enough to bring this closer to center, without test-shooting it...
...if it was a different lock up design...
I could do it with a tilting barrel gun, when the scope (or any sight) is fixed to the barrel and tilted with it....
hope that makes sense.
Expensive equipment is totally wasted on an old old old cheap air rifle :D
I'll just adjust and shoot until the point of impact matches the point of aim well enough.. This is just for practice and fun anyways.
Sorry for the delay, a boresight rests inside the barrel of your gun and shoots a laser to the target. Makes it very easy to dial in your scope.
I bought mine on amazon, they are usually pretty cheap.
but that won't fit inside the breach and the scope isn't mounted on the barrel...
I'll look into it laters, thx!
also: this is 4.76 mm or .117 bore...
Outdoor stuffs are fun, by the way, guns are still illegal in Nigeria so most of the gun terminologies you used are strange to me.
How were you able to do your shooting practice without disturbing your neighbors with the noise?
He's using an airgun. They are usually very quiet.
that.
and the low powered ones are pretty much unrestricted. everywhere probably.
Saludos amigo y a averigüe bien para la manipulación del rifle, saludos desde Venezuela 🇻🇪
