Episode 1

Village Surathkala near Tarantaran, Dist Amritsar, India

Asma:- Promise me that you will never leave me Rajbir.

Rajbir:- Asma, I cannot imagine of even a single breath without you in my life.

Asma:- Is it necessary for you to leave me behind. Why don't you just talk to Abbu about us and take me along with you? I can live with you even in poverty. I do not need anything other than your love. I feel so alone and scared when you are not around. I want to be with you all the time. I do not know why but my heart keeps sinking in your absence. Your company gives me strength and a reason to live. I am all yours just take me along with you. I will eat stale bread even but all I need is you around.

Rajbir:- Asma, you don't know how much I want to be with you. Looking into your eyes give me peace and all I want is to keep looking at you. I see all the stars of the sky in your eyes. Looking at you makes me calm and gives me peace. Whenever I am away from you I become restless. Every single day away from you is going to feel like a year but there is nothing I can do here. My uncles have left me with nothing. If I try to claim my land back then I will have to fight them and I do not want to fight my own blood. In Lahore, I shall find some job and then I will come back to take you along with me. We will start a life in Lahore. Where you would become the queen of my house and I shall be at your service all the time. Our life will be good and peaceful there. Have some faith in your Rajbir. My Guru's will show me the way. We already are one soul in the eyes of almighty. he knows how true our love is.

Asma:- Ohh Rajbir, I love you so much and she submissively hugged Rajbir to feel the warmth of his breath, his love. Rajbir caressed her back in love and kissed her forehead and Asma closed her eyes to lock the moment in her memories.

Both Asma and Rehan lived in the village Surathkala near Tarantaran, Dist Amritsar, India. Rajbir's father was a freedom fighter and he died in a lathi charge while protesting against British. His uncle's refused to give any share of the property to Rajbir's mother and it was Asma's father Aarif Mohammad who took care of Rajbir and his mother. He was a childhood friend of Rajbir's father Sudharshan Singh.

Asma and Rajbir grew up together and were in love since they were kids. Though Aarif Mohammad was a Muslim and Rajbir was a Jatt Sikh but besides religion, he always took Rajbir as his own blood. He knew about their liking for each other but he never objected. he wanted Rajbir to get employed somewhere and then he wanted to marry them both. He had a friend Sohan Lal in Lahore and he arranged a job for Rajbir.

Rajbir boarded the train while Asma had the tear in her eyes and Aarif Mohammad was trying to keep her calm. The train blew the horn and they both could see the distance growing in between them and it was just a matter of seconds before they both lost sight of each other.

Moving story. My family was affected by partition and so was many of my friends and neighbors. Although I was born much after the event, but the impact of it migrated throughout many generations. Your mentioning of the event brings many memories. Good work from a fellow qurite!

I am sorry for the loss of your family and friends @azircon

It's always refreshing to start reading a good story, you cuaght me with this one! So i'm looking foward to the second episode.

Migration stories touch my nerve, i'm preparing everything to migrate myself, my family are inmigrants too.. So i felt this story as mine, i felt identified.

The pre-independence stories has always made me feel bad. I can only imagine the hardships faced during that time. The partition of India has ever since I known made me terribly upset.
Anyway, I'm glad to see a new series. :)

@logicalidiot A Lot of lives were lost during partition. it will keep haunting us for generations to come. :(

Great writing. Keep up the good job. I look forward to the next episodes. Is this a true story or fiction? Either way a great start!

The distance may have grown between them in seconds but their hearts are tired together if it's true love, no matter the distance love will always prevail, what a way for Raj to start a life, awesome beginning of the story, I hope to read more, waiting for the continuation. Thanks for sharing

Nice little story.

It is always so hard to say bye to the ones you love.

Although, lately, I have come to the conclusion that the only way to really love is to be able to let go.

you are absolutely right @astralaglae

very nice
