Hello Steemit!
Recently my girlfriend and I were looking to upgrade our lighting in our office/computer room, and we weren't really looking to spend a lot doing it. Further, my girlfriend has sensitive eyes due to her MS, and we didn't want anything overpowering and directly shining on us. We were looking for more of an ambient lighting type style then anything. Further, we've been on a mission to declutter our desks, so we didn't want a desk lamp(s).
After shopping around and weighing our options we decided to go with some 3M back RGB LED strip. They are super cheap and give you several color options.
The style we purchased came in 16ft rolls, and 2 rolls worth of LEDs. It also came with 1 power box and remote.
Upon receiving them we decided we were going to stick the LED strip to the back side of the desk top, facing the walls of our room. This way the light would hit the wall and provide a good amount of light. We ended up only using 1 16ft roll, and decided to keep the 2nd in case the first ever broke. You can cut the LED down to any length you want, but 16ft ended up being perfect for us.
Total for the project came out to less than $20, and it's absolutely perfect and exactly what we wanted. I figured I'd share the knowledge because it's so easy and really adds that special touch to the room.
