Oil pulling to heal your teeth and eliminate cavities!

in #life7 years ago

I used some coconut oil today on my head for my psoriasis, and remembered that it's also helpful for dental issues. Here's how to oil pull.

Why Pull?

There are several different oils that can be used for this method. I prefer coconut oil, which is like the second-from-the-top but it tastes much better. The idea is to swish it between your teeth, working from left to right and back again, ensuring that the oil goes between each of your teeth on the upper and lower rows.

This will help keep your teeth clean.

How?

I generally take a spoonful of the oil, and put it in my mouth. I "chew" it to make it more liquid, and swallow some of it (only at the beginning! You don't want to swallow any of it once it has "pulled" the bacteria and other bad stuff from your teeth!), and then start swishing it between my teeth as mentioned above.

Generally, I do this in the morning while I'm sitting on the toilet and reading -- thus, it's not taking any additional time out of my day. You want to do this for 15-20 minutes at a time, but when you get started it'll likely provoke a gag reflex so you'll also want to be near a sink or waste basket. After a couple times I was able to continue to the end without gagging. Note though that I do tend to swallow a little, as one's throat wants to continue to be coated while one is breathing...

Once you're done, you will want to spit it out completely. The way it works is, bacteria likes sweetness, so they detect the oil swishing nearby and detach, so they can grab hold of it. When you spit it out, you are removing bad stuff from your mouth, and it's a lot more clean than brushing or flossing.

Stop Paying Your Dentist!

I used to have a joke when I'd visit the dentist for a cleaning. The technician (generally "she") would ask, "do you floss regularly?"

My response was "Certainly! Twice a year, every time I see you." :)

Now I've got a filling that leaped out and catches food, so I floss almost daily. That aside, though: I have needed a dentist a lot less since I started with this regimen. It's important to do it daily, which I am still working towards...

Hope this helps!

never knew about this thanks for sharing

Good post. thanks

Supposed to be very beneficial for the gums too.

Thanks for sharing. I will try it :)

Good luck, let me know what happens!

After a month of so of doing this, I felt what felt like a piece of the back of my bottom front teeth fell off, I was rather concerned! Pulled it out and inspected it; turned out, the oil pulling has loosened a piece of tartar and removed it!

Apparently this can also help regrow broken teeth, and I have a couple fillings that have fallen which I haven't replaced yet, so we will see... Good luck!

Haven't ever thought about this. I guess brushing your teeth is not enough. I'll give it a go if don't forget.

Yeah it's a bit of a routine, but if you can align it with something else you're doing that takes 15-20 minutes, it's no more time out of your day, just a little gagging to get used to it. :)

Haha the gagging part sounds a bit shitty :D But 15-20 minutes ain't that much.

Exactly, you'll get the hang of it. :)

I didn't know that. Thanks

You're welcome, enjoy!

This does work. It mad a real difference with my teeth.

Awesome thanks!
