WHY I JOINED STEEMIT

I originally joined steemit 5 weeks ago mainly for financial reasons. I had no previous experience with cryptocurrencies or blockchains and had only heard of bitcoin because my brother kept going on and on about it.
My brother had mined 50 of them,but this was years ago when they first started. Anyway my brother sold them when they were worth about $1200,that was for all of them.He was delighted at the time and bought a new graphics card,but he definitely regrets it now.

I thought I had missed my opportunity to get in on bitcoin because they were now so expensive and i didn't know anything about mining. Then 5 weeks ago my brother tells me about this new social media platform that uses blockchain technology. He tried explaining it to me,but it didn't make any sense to me. Anyway I agreed to give it ago because it wasn't going to cost me anything to start up and I had the chance to earn more. Got to be worth it I thought,so I gave it ago.

When I first gave it ago I didn't have a clue what to do or what to write and I couldn't see myself lasting very long. Anyway I stuck with it and it's probably one of the best things I've ever done. After a couple of days my hunger for knowledge was out of control. I was on the computer all day constantly reading,learning new subjects and ideas. I was getting up early and staying up late just to learn more,it was like some sort of drug and I was becoming addicted.

When using steemit now I just look at the financial aspects of it as a bonus because I'm planning for the long term now. I'm plan to make regular purchases of steempower whenever I can afford it. I'm not talking about spending huge amounts just regular £50 or £100 amounts. This is perfect for me as I had to pack my job in about 2 years ago due to a heart attack. I've also been in and out of hospital the last 2 years for liver and stomach problems. Now I have the chance to earn some extra money which would become very useful as my daughters 16th birthday is approaching fast.
