One Tool I use everyday

in #life6 years ago

Hey steem it world! It's been awhile since I posted. I am currently writing from Acapulco Mexico, I just went to the two conferences #Anarchapulco and #Anarchaforko and that whirlwind. I met so many smart, interesting, like minded people
sure did tire me out. I will release my thoughts on the whole thing soon, probably in segments.

But before I do that I thought I would share with you guys a tool I use to be the person I want to be. Here's something I do almost everyday.

I journal every morning and every night. There's a certain format I have that I will shortly go into.

(If you can read the chicken scratch)This is how I have my set up you can do yours in anyway you want. It's a journal (sometimes dream journal), checklist, lessons, insights or satoris(moments of deep clarity and understanding), streak count of addictions and goals, grateful log, mantras, and an intention for the next day write before bed. (I put the journal underneath my pillow right before I sleep)
So almost every morning after meditation, I write down I AM and follow it with virtues and things I want to cultivate in my life for that particular day. The first thing is always appreciation. It's sort of like mantras and it is not always the same. Then I check the intention from the night before and the checklist I wrote out and go about my day. I don't always get to everything on the checklist and that's fine. This process keeps me disciplined and encourages me.
The streaks are very important. No alcohol, no porn, no meat, no videogames, days vegan, are the ones I am working on now. All those things listed are addictions or goals at least for me and I can see how I through my own will power got over those things. I don't "need" any of those things anymore and I can always try them again if it feels right and isn't disempowering me. If I do slip up I write about it and try to process it. A lot of these things aren't just switches you can turn on and off. This journal has been a huge help for me.
The grateful log is also very important. It's so easy to go through life and not pay attention to all the wonderful things you enjoy. You are truly blessed and should feel that, I try to remember that as much as I can. When I eat, when new opportunities come by, when I'm in nature, when I have a nice bed to sleep in, when I'm moving my body. Whenever I can, but I can't do it always at least not yet. The journal reminds me of all that I should be grateful for.

You can use that template for yourself or make your own. There is a lot of power that comes with making yourself write everyday even if it is just a checklist. You can improve on my design, customize it for yourself. You'll start to see the power of intention, gratitude, and organisation. It will probably help with your direction as well. You can put long term goals in it. Steps towards the goal.

If you liked what I posted please feel free to like, follow, resteem or whatever. I have plenty of stuff I want to share and I would love to hear from you wonderful people.
With love, appreciation, and light, straight from the heart, thank you.
PS (If you actually read the journal somehow I can explain some of the "weird stuff" I wrote in it. It was kind of hard to find a page that wasn't too personal or hippie dippie)
