Could religions collapse before the arrival of extraterrestrials
Religions have already collapsed. Look what happens with the scandals relating to the Christian church, the escalating wars between the different factions of Judaism and the contempt that the modern civilisation feel towards the Islam.
Aliens will make themselves appear as a result of our change of attitude towards religions, rather than a cause for it.
